So too we're... we aren't either surprised....

"Apart from this "positive", there have been quite a few negatives......" `wonder, which positive is he referring to??? Drop Shikar and half of your problems are solved and send Bhuvi back on fitness grounds and get a replacement; strengthen middle order bringing in Kedar Jadhav, rest of your problems will be solved. India has been lacking solid start ever since Shikar broke in to the scene. He has proved enough that, he's only a flat track bully and doesn't have the technique to do well in seaming tracks. Abhinav Mukund and Murali Vijay to open, Kedhar Jadhav in the middle order to strengthen batting, another suitable replacement in place of 115 kph friendly medium pacer Bhuvi are the need of the hour. If India is playing with a lone spinner, it ought to be Ravi Ashwin and none else. Apart from his bowling, he adds value to the team with his sound batting technique which in fact is a lot better than most of the supposed to be batsmen batting ahead of him. But, politics prevails over wisdom in India and I foresee India finishing just ahead of Afgan, Zimbabwe and behind Bangladesh which is a far more balanced team than India.

Ishant is never fit for a full series, Varun never uses his brain; Umesh lacks control and gifts far too many extras; Dawal cannot even scare a gully cricket batsman with his lazy, `just woke up from sleep' style; Pankaj's deliveries aren't proportionate to his broad chest and shoulders. Suddenly, our fast bowling stock looks bare and empty... If only the board took enough care when L. Balaji & Irfan Pathan broke in to the scene and preserved them.... If only the BCCI rotates the fast bowlers and saves them from over work load.... If only we have three different teams for the three formats not withstanding the players' greed to hog all the limelight for themselves and not to miss any earning opportunity..... If only the men in BCCI were as wise as us, cricket lovers!!!!

Dhoni and nobody else to blame
by sameer pandita on Feb 01, 2015 03:54 PM

He too has turned into a Kapil Dev .He should be axed right away before we go for WC and Kohli should be elevated to the ranks . Bring back yuvraj or Ghambir as a replacement of Dhawan we dont need him at all .He starts the slide at top and that too very early .He has no-clue of whats happening .Bring in someplayers from the junior world cup squad that defeated Australia in Australia ,this aint the time to do regional politics . Bring back Sreesanth even if you have banned him as our bowlers are no good.Dont allow Yadav to bowl as he too doesnt have any clue . Promote Axsar and jadeja over the Ashwin.
This team in its present form is a shame for India and will bring us lot of shame in the cup as well.Only and Only Dhoni is responsible for this state of Indian Cricket .Selectors were always the same it was the captain with an acummen of Ganguly whom India shall miss big time this world cup .This is a demoralized team with no initiative or cause to fight .They are a shame for India .

The Fact
by Devdutt Sen on Feb 01, 2015 10:26 AM  | Hide replies

We must face the fact that we always had the psychological advantage when our team went to play, with names like Tendukar, Sehwag, Gambhir and Yuvraj. The opposition was awed amd played badly. When these people got out cheaply, they used to bet complacent and relaxed which others took advantage of.
The present lot doesn't have anyone except Kohli who is considered to be a big threat to any other team. It is not an easy task for a bunch of rookies to create the same effect.
Let us hope future generates as good names as the ones who have gone. Only then we will regain the lost glory

I meant only for 2100 WC. Of course the names of Ganguly, Dravid, Laxman just before that along with these names was absolutely formidable
