Boycott knighthood boycott
by Bodh Ramdeo on Jan 06, 2015 08:20 AM

What's the big deal of a meaningless knighthood? We're living in the 21st century, not the 12th century. Would he be less of a cricketer if he didn't receive this 'honor'???

Way to go, England !

Leave aside his charity work & assault on his girl friend for the moment. If he was being considered for his contribution to Cricket, let's not forget that he was one of the most selfish batsmen ever who refused to help/ coach young batsmen because he considered them as a threat to his own position in the team. And he was also one of the few players who left a tour midway (India in 1982) to join a rebel tour to South Africa during the Apartheid days. Good decision by the UK Govt.

Indian Authorities should also learn from this. To be eligible for the top honours like Bharat Ratna, Padma awards or PVSM the antecedents of the person, his track record, his conduct and performance must be looked into thororughly so that the Top honours are not demeaned.
