Virat Kohli certainly has a positive and fresh mind .With Ravi Shastri as a mentor and good for nothing chief coach India should do well in the final Test against Aussies.Pujara and Dhawan have not done well playing abroad.Rahane as the opening batsman and Raina as the middle order with Axar Patel and Ashwin as all rounders should be an ideal combination for the limited overs cricket.A Test match is all together a different ball game. All the best to Team India in the final Test and the first of the year 2015.Happy New Year.
here is the correct team.. 6 full time bowlers to take out 20 aussie wickets..
all rounders axar, ashwin and kumar can make more runs than dhawan, rahul and rsharma.. no isharma as he has very high strike rate.. we need wickets not low economy rate..
Re: Re: 6 fulltime bowlers to get 20 wickets..
by Nihit Saxena on Jan 03, 2015 07:21 AM
they will anyway get bundled out for 200.. since Dhawan, RSharma and KLRahul would be out for under 10.
Arent Vijay, Rahane, Pujara and Kohli the only run scorers who are in the squad? At least this team has capacity to bowl out Australia for under 200 as well. And twice..
Aksar Patel could be more than a handful, as he is not only talented but is in glorious form as well.. I'll not be surprised, if they go out in a heap to Aksar..
Both Pujara and Dhawan have showcased that they are not good in overseas conditions. I mean based on their 10innings in England and 6 innigs here in Australia. Each of their combined average is just 20-24 runs. They have been given enough chances and needs to be dropped with immediate effect

Pujara's failure is affecting India because #3 position is very critical which was beautifully essayed by Dravid. However, I don't think in the whole of India there's anybody better qualified at present than Pujara for that position. I feel he can be given another chance in Sydney. The next important test match for India anyway is not in the immediate future.

I got the very same team in my mind but I'd give one more chance to shikhar coz Rahul was a bundle of nerves and looked lost.
Rahul should be given one more chance. Raina, kumar and Axara patel can be brought by dropping iSHANT and Shami OR drop Ashwin to give place for Axar patel with three pacers and raina also can bowl spin if needed. Even Viaj can bowl off spin

Sir,Sydney will help spinners so two regular spinners and two pacers plus Raina will be good bowling choice.

Overseas Tour, like this one, is tough on any newcomer and Rahul is no exception. It was wrong on our part to bring him here and judge him based on one test failure. In my opinion, he should be reinitited to test cricket in home conditions first before being pushed into another foreign tour. With the next test series 8-9 months away, his success or failure in another match is not going to help him much but his failure in the sydney test will definitely hurt India. Rest him. We also need to be brutally honest to remove Shikar Dhawan. The best combo for Vijay could be either Rahane or Rohit. I am not sure if Rohit would be inclined to an opener role in tests. So my pick would be
1. Vijay 2. Rahane 3. Pujara 4. Kohli 5. Rohit/ Raina 6. Saha 7. Axar 8. Ashwin 9. Bhuvi if fit otherwise Sami 10.Ishant 11. Umesh

Raina can be fifth bowler in case of need as he is widely used as spinner in onedayers

raina can be 6th or 7th bowler if everyone else fails.. not 5th..

nothing wrong in having three fast bowlers provided they are good. So, two plus two bowlers is safe to strengthen batting. Raina is also a pretty decent bowler for about 10 overs a day. He bowls regularly and better than Rohit.

what is wrong is that everyone gets tired and then comes the session where the likes of ryan harris, johnson, starc and lyon make half centuries..

@Nihit: How can you convert a middle order bat into opener, it could fail even the best of the batsmen. Forgot Laxman, Dravid n Sachin.. All tried out as openers and failed..
Also, Ishant can't be axed he is our spearhead and Shami is useless outside India..

Mike, right before the first test I have been saying India must always go for 2 plus 2.Australia struggles against spin even if there's not much assistance from the pitch. Playing three pacers of this poor quality is like playing with only 10.

rahane opened in first class.. ishant is not spear head.. spearheads are not supposed to have 65 strike rate in test cricket.. yadav with under 50 strike rate is spearhead..
Re: Re: still not 5 bowlers? do they ever want to win overseas?!?

at least 5 bowlers are needed 6 would be better if we need 20 wickets.. else keep waiting for declaration..
Re: Re: Re: still not 5 bowlers? do they ever want to win oversea

yes, eight bowlers will be more helpful to bundle out Australia for less than 100 and win the test in two days :-)

that is a better possibility than begging australia to declare at 650 so that we can win the match..

As far as the photo is concerned, he dint sit with the team. I saw a FB post in which he was leaning against a post and was with some other guys (image taken from a fair distance)..
