Robin Uthappa proved to be a big hit in the seventh season of the Indian Premier League as he played a stellar role in Kolkata Knight Riders' title win. He was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 5 crore and he proved to be worth every penny as he finished as the highest run-getter in the tournament, with a massive haul of 660 runs in 16 matches with five half-centuries.

On the other hand, Yuvraj Singh, who was purchased for a record Rs 14 crore by Royal Challengers, failed to live up to expectations. The left-hander totalled 376 runs from 14 matches with three fifties.

How can a discarded player from team India with serious ailment be paid such amount? Is there something that we can't see or it is a case of money being paid to favourd few to only charge them through an agency as commission for arranging deal which belongs to team promoters?

Not only IPL, whole cricket is a tamasha of fixed matches. India must win to keep interest in the game. It will be India again "winning" the cup. I guarantee it.

VULGAR DISPLAY OF DIRTY MONEY
by chandrashekar nayak on Feb 16, 2015 11:51 AM  | Hide replies

Rs 3 Crores-5 Crores- 10 Crores- 16 crores ........ this the money IPL cricketers are fetching in " auction". King Fihsre's Mallya bought Dinesh karthi for Rs 10.50 crores. He has all the money to spend on Cricketers, King Fisher calender, Tippu's sword for Rs 2.50 Crores but he has no money to settle his Bank Dues. What an irony ! Yuvraj got Rs 16.00 Crores for IPL 2015 !!!! This money is enough to build 6400 toilets in our Govt schools. Vulgar display of dirty money is at at its peak. IPL should be banned. IPL is a mess altogether. In the name of Post match party, all kinds of illegal and immoral activities are happening. better get rid of this nuisance.

This is how professional sports go. This is similar to the Auction of football and basketball players around the world. The amounts involved in exchanging of big names are huge, much more compared to the IPL auction amounts.

The best ways to stop this menance is to stop watching IPL matches. It is total filth by Indian moral standards.

16 karod ?
by Veenaay Deshpande on Feb 16, 2015 11:43 AM  | Hide replies

Are these players themselves providing money to the franchisees from the back door to purchase them ? Or their friends/fans/well wishers sponsoring such purchases ?

16 karod appears to be some godly amount for Yuvraj. With due respect to Yuvraj and his outstanding career, I don't remember Yuvraj winning off let an IPL game for his team on his own performance
