SPIN COMBO HAS TO BE THE OVERSEAS WIN MANTRA TOO-II
by damodaran mohan on Dec 10, 2015 05:20 PM

(contd.)So the winning formula for oversea tour is 5 bowlers with 2-3 spinners minimum. However should India settle for 4 bowlers only, then there should be 3 spinners as it was seen at Delhi, Mishra was being missed very badly. Moreover it must be understood that the wicket taking ability of the 2nd pacer for India drops by over 50 % unlike for teams like Aus, Eng, SA etc. for whom 2-3 pacers are equally good. Another reason for oversea loss in the past has been is the defensive approach. With Kohli persisting with the attacking field it could be an additional winning arsenal as seen during the last Aus tour when India came close to winning under Kohli in his 1st test as captain. Conclusion: with this new found confidence and changed approach India can start winning overseas assuming the batting will click.

SPIN COMBO HAS TO BE THE OVERSEAS WIN MANTRA TOO-I
by damodaran mohan on Dec 10, 2015 05:17 PM

They will win overseas too provided India do not make the tactical mistakes and hold blind belief about spinners being ineffective overseas. This series win indeed opens up new possibilities for overseas wins for India in future. Our thinking has been defensive and one track for the overseas tour playing just one spinner or no spinner mainly banking on our below par pace bowlers who are incapable of taking 20 wickets. Although in the SA home series for the 1st three Tests it were turning wickets but at Delhi it was a good batting wickets albeit a bit slow. The two spinners delivered for sure complementing one another with additional spirited pace attack support. So once Ashwin gets able support of at least one more spinner if not two on oversea conditions too, given his reinvented form and a little support from the pacers there is no reason why India should not be able to get 20 wickets which have been eluding us so far. Further, the conventional playing 7 batsmen the probability of win doesn’t increase at all with at best helping the side get 20-30 runs more and still the side losing. On the other hand even at the cost of batting looking thin the probability of win increases considerably with 20 wickets taking chances increasing with 5 bowlers. Even if India loses with 5 bowlers the risk is worth taking as with 4 bowlers India can seldom win even with batting coming good.

India Cannot be Expected to Win Test Series Abroad
by RSS on Dec 10, 2015 12:34 AM  | Hide replies

Cricket has been Invented by The British in The Early 16th Century AD, & it was Specifically Modeled & Designed to Suit their Style & Strengths of Playing i.e. Fast Bowling in Swinging conditions.

Hence they use a Brand New Hard Red or White Ball (Kookaburra, Duke's, SG Brand of late Pink ball as well). This New ball Swings, Bounces, has Lateral Movement On and Off The Seam and Favours Fast & Swing bowlers heavily under cloudy skies.

Hence Most of The Christian & Islamic Countries acknowledged this fact and made Fast Bowling as their main weapon.

India, Sri Lanka on the other hand were Historically unable to produce Physically Tall, Strong & Brave Fast Bowlers who could Bowl consistently at 150 KM/Hour, so we began Mastering Spin which is Relatively Easier, Slower and Less demanding in physical exertion. So India, Pakistan, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka became experts in Spin bowling as it was easier to take wickets and confuse batsmen.

Pakistan knew how to produce both World Class Fast Bowlers & Top Class Spinners as well simultaneously.

India managed only to Perform & Win with Medium pacers and Spinners!! Hence Indians produced Batting & spinning wickets.

Expecting an Indian team to Win a Test Series in Australia, South Africa, England & New Zealand with such a Background & Mindset will be Really Difficult and also Impossible as Indian Batsmen find it Difficult to play their Fast bowling & there is almost no help for spinn

And Ashwin, Amit Mishra, Ravindra Jadeja, Pragyan ojha are Deinitely No Match if you compare them with Muttaiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne, Saqlain Mushtaq & Mushtaq Ahmed, Anil Kumble & Harbhajan combinations.

Indian Spinners can take wickets in Loads & Heaps only in Spin friendly conditions.

Outside India they will just become Cannon Fodder, Same with Batsmen - Batting Records only Inside India, outside India we do not do well.

Much much better.Do some research in internet and you will know. Moreover,we are winning here in some of the most unsporting pitches of the world. There should be some uniformity of quality of pitches of the world.ICC should create a framework.

England Beat India in 2012 in a Test Series & Won with a 2-1 margin.

Australia Beat India in 2004.

South Africa last Beat India in 1999-2000 season.

In stark comparison No Indian team Has Ever Beaten Australia or South Africa on their Home soil in a Test Series ever before.

India however have Success against England in Test Series on English soil India won in England in 1971, 1986, (2002 Test Series was a Drawn Series 1-1).

Yes, Its time

But you wont get tailor made pitches for spinners in OZ, SA, England, West Indies, etc. He may be able to contain the batsmen sometimes but it would be highly impossible to perform on fast tracks in these countries. Realize this fact before writing such articles

No long wait
by Raman Krishnaswamy on Dec 08, 2015 09:53 PM

We do not have to wait long. In less than a month India will be in Australia and we will know if Ashwin is able maintain his loud claims that he got wickets because of his bowling ability and not because of the pitch.

ASHWIN - OVERATED BOWLER
by Pratik Shah on Dec 08, 2015 09:22 PM

kumble and harbhajan were far better spin bowlers than ashwin.
Ashwin is a overated bowler.
He took 31 wickets in 4 tests here in india, abroad he won't even get 5-6 wickets in 4 tests series.
Even jadeja is better than ashwin when it comes to performance abroad.
