Indian commentators are more critical about our own players
by tejas on Sep 01, 2015 11:18 AM  | Hide replies

I observed some of the Indian commentators especially Sanjay Manjrekar, Harsha Bhogle and Gavaskar criticise Indian players more than the opponent team players. This is the attitude of our Indians that we un-necessarily criticise ourselves for the things for which are observed normally otherwise.
What I mean to say is that, how many times have we seen the likes of Macgrath's, Warne's, Brettlee's,Johnson's, English Bowlers, South African Bowler's forget fined even warned for their unacceptable behaviour on the field? I am watching cricket closely for last 20 years and I have seen worst encounters or behaviours by fast bowlers from above countries, what Ishant did was nothing compared to it.
I am not defending Ishant Sharma, he could have expressed it in a little milder way, but in when you give your 100% and you are pumped up it sometimes bound to happen.
What was more annoying to see was Manjrekar mentioned it 5 times and also after the session was over, about Ishant's and Kohali's reactions and how it was unacceptable and all.
If you hear the commentary of Australians or Englishmen or South Africans they never criticise about the reactions of players or their aggressiveness or their celebrations etc., instead they always talk about how well he is bowling and how good his aggressiveness is and how he dominated the batsman and all.
As long as Ishant Sharma is bowling well taking wickets nobody should have any problem with his celebrations because that is not affecting his

game. Unnecessary aggression without any performance is useless like Sreesanth use to show, that looks funny but useless.
But Indian commentators in general should accept open heartedly the good performance by our bowlers rather than criticising them every time for he things which other players are normally get away with or common.
Especially if you hear the commentary of Sanjay Manjrekar, Harsha Bhogle, sometimes Gavaskar they always criticise Indian players and their commentary is biased for other players and looks negative. If you hear commentary of Ian Bitham, David Gower, Ian Chapell, Nasser Hussain, Ramiz Raja, Ian Healey, Michael Athurton, Dean Jones, Ian Smith all these commentators are never so much critical with their bowlers celebrations, their aggression etc.
INFACT IF YOU HAVE REMEMBERES LAST WORLD CUP, THERE WAS AN OUTSTANDING SPELL FROM WAHAB RIAZ OF PAKISTAN TO SHANE WATSON OF AUSTRALIA, IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST FAST BOWLING SPELLS I HAVE SEEN FULL OF WORDS EXCHANGED, DRAMAS, AGGRESSION BUT NOT FOR A SINGLE MOMENT ANY COMMENTATORS FROM PAKISTAN OR ANY OTHER COUNTRY HAD SAID ABOUT THE REACTIONS OF WAHAB RIAZ, INFACT THEY PRAISED HIM FOR HIS SPELL AND RAMEEZ RAJA EVEN SAID THAT INDIAN FAST BOWLERS SHOULD TAKE THAT AGGRESSION AND ATTITUDE FROM PAKISTAN FAST BOWLERS, BUT OUR INDIAN COMMENTATORS IMMEDIATELY START TO CRITICIZE OUR OWN BOWLERS THE MOMENT WE START TO BE A LITTLE AGGRESSIVE. OUR COMMENTATORS MUST BACK OUR PLAYERS THEN ONLY WORLD WILL RESPECT THEM.

Ishant- Keep your cool
by Srinivasan Iyer on Sep 01, 2015 10:36 AM

Ishant Sharma has made a great comeback and is now the lead bowler. It will be a pity if he gets carried away and gets into avoidable incidents with opposing batsman. He could risk being suspended if he repeats such behavior. Via=rat and Shastri should do their bit in controlling him.

Gavaskar's excesses on on-field rows
by soumyen sarkar on Aug 31, 2015 11:21 PM  | Hide replies

It is rather surprising to see Gavaskar admonishing players for exhibiting frayed tempers . Hes says ........"These are some of the scenes that you don't want to see. The kids are watching and international players are role models."" Did he forget what he himself did in a series down-under walking out of the field with Chetan Chauhan , protesting against umpire's decision? In today's competitive cricket, such exchanges are quite normal. What happens in football. They kick, they blow, they trip but guardians never ask their children to stop seeing football. I am never saying acting should exceed the game, but when such exchange are true indicators of competitiveness , it adds color to the proceedings.Otherwise, I am not sure how many people will be interested to see the drab interaction between the leather and the willow. When two nations are competing, this is bound to happen. And when quickies are involved, it is just natural to see teeth opening up on both sides. Ishant impressed me most. At one stage, he was a mere passenger. Now he is a valued player bringing in breakthroughs early in the innings and frightening the batsmen with his rising deliveries. His long hair, big frame and the tremendous pace make an awesome package for any fast bowler. SL , the home tigers are facing the fire of fury. Gavaskar may have to say something copybook stuff on on-field behavior. But, he should not go much beyond that as it will be disgusting to see discoloring of test c

Notwithstanding Gavaskar's playing days and his irate temperament, what happened on 4th day is totally unacceptable.

Ishant crossed all limits and must be censured promptly.

Rightly said. in his hay days what Gavaskar did was a protest against the normal rules of the game. But whats happening in today's cricket is but just normal. So Sunny can stop mouthing off

nothing like that. the likes of ishanth, zaheer, harbhajan, srishanth bring disrepute to indian cricketer who are other wise gentlemen.

Gavaskar was a through gentlemen cricketer except one incident where he protested bcz it was completely partial against inda.
