Erratic batting by India.
by soumyen sarkar on Aug 30, 2015 11:10 PM

It is true, all the batsmen in Indian team touring Sri Lanka got some runs under their belts. But , isolated individual brilliance is no substitute for concerted and harmonious team effort as has been proved so many times. The Galle test was lost by India though they dominated the math all but the last day. You just cannot relax, sitting on your last or past performance. Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Lokesh Rahul Virat Kohli all are culprits as they thought one good performance was enough for next few matches. Pujara, conveniently forgot, the first innings century was already part of the past and the team needed a second performance from him. And so he got out second ball. It is as if asking to o much to ask for consistency in performance from Indian batsmen. Lokesh Rahul and Ajinkya did no better. In comparison, Indian bowlers are doing splendid job. In the five innings so far, that they bowled in, SL could not cross a four hundred figure mark. In such a situation the role of the team director Ravi Shastri has to be examined. He is touring with the team for quite a long. And his main role appears to be the spokes person of the team and its captain. If Duncan Fletcher could be taken to task, why not Ravi Shastri? What he is doing? It may appear Indian team has a strong batting line up but is the most fragile batting line in the world of cricket at present. Kudos to Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav , Ravi Chandran Ashwin or Amit Mishra. Shastri should forget Dhoni era.
