Rahane

Batting number is so important for a batsman that if he is shifted from his comfort zone he would fail to match his talents.Ajinkya-the name suggests he is the conqueror of all batting positions he is asked to play.If this benefits team India and Rohit is happy at batting no 5.why should sunny feel bad?

Pujara

Please give Pujara a chance too. Rohit is a hyped up talent, even Utappa and Rayudu are far better than him. Pujara and Rahane are made for tests, give then long rope instead of Rohit. Now since Rohit has scored a half century,he has reserved his place for next 4-5 tests. This is really sad state of cricket affairs in India.Earlier Dhoni was blamed for selectors wrong doings, now who is to be blamed. The whole mindset and selection policies of the selectors must change to make Indian team to become a force among cricket playing nations.

Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma is one of the most hyped up guys in this team , but who is of no value to the test team. His contacts & people in the BCCI has ensured that he still finds a place . The sooner he is kicked out of the team the better for Team India. He is good only for IPL. His technique is only suited for the shorter version. Once in a while he will make 50 or 70 & keep his place for the next 5 matches. The team needs guys like Rahane . As Gavaskar said , Rahane was sacrificed to bring Rohit in his place , so that he continues his place . I only hope that constant ups & downs in his position doesnt demoralise such a nice player like Rahane , after all everyone cannot be Dravid ( he was a different class altogether).

An inform batsman is sent at an early fall of wicket;even gavaskar would have made this common sense move.Let he be blunt on many other serious game killing moves happening in Indian Cricket if he is serious and not bait virat and company.

Gavaskar should stop giving unwarranted and unwanted advice to the present Indian cricket team. He should say whether during his stay as captain he has never shuffled the batting order.

Has the author lost his mind

Has the author lost his mind to say that Rohit Sharma played a "career defining knock to an extent" since there was a lot of pressure on him to perform. Foolish. If 75 can be said as career defining what can we say abt the author

This is the problem with meek guys
by DrYaako TikaNovva on Aug 20, 2015 08:18 PM  | Hide replies

Look at Tendu and Laxman who never wanted to open, yet they made their stay useful. Unfortunately meek guys like Dravid and Rahane need to struggle just because of their inability to be strong in their stance.

Their inability to protest pumps their fans with false stories about them being team players and others being crooks, etc. Being a team player does not mean agreeing to whatever people say.

in fact tendulkar wanted to open in odis..and himself offered to open the odis innings...and later so used to his 100s he was angry if asked to bat lower down the orde....

as for laxman all the times he opened the innings it was at the insistence of ganguly and later fed up of failing at opener spot he openly told ganguly to consider him at any other position but opening otherwise he refused to be in the team....and ganguly had to give plans of making laxman an opener as he did for sehwag....

I was speaking about tests where Tendu never tried, and as you rightly said Laxman failed. At least they were vocal about their decisions and did not accept any request or demand thrown on them. No issues with Dravid or Tendu or Laxman, I am not happy with shuffling batting order just to benefit one individual and calling it as the benefit of the team. You cannot expect Dhoni to open the innings just because somebodys A55 has to be saved. I am still fine with Dhoni in the middle order.
