(contd.) Was India one batsman short ? Has the 6-5 combo to be discontinued ? Answer is no, but it has to be backed by solid batting.Dhawan is already out .So Pujara is certain to play and will strengthen batting. Should Murali Vijay be fit then one between Rahul and Rohit will have to sit out. Perhaps Rohit should sit out. What happens to Bhajji ? Are the selectors right in thrusting Stuart Binny ? Or is it a panic reaction ? Binny certainly will not get the swing in SL but still could be used as a pacer to replace Bhajji perhaps. Binny will certainly be more useful than Bhajji with bat but he is primarily T20 batsman. In Test cricket unless you can find a world class all-rounder, specialists are preferable any day. Binny is all-rounder more suited to shorter version of game. Ishant Sharma who rarely delivers too needs to be replaced with B Kumar. Although India has been pushed into defensive but it must go into 2nd Test with a positive intent.
It was simply stunning. Even the SLans would not have fancied their chances in their wildest dream on day 2 when most expected India to wrap up the match little after lunch on the 3rd day! At a time when Test matches are ending on predictable manner in 3-4 days easily this must be the biggest turn around ever in Test history. Any precedence to beat this ? No chance. After dominating most of the sessions the way India capitulated to give SL such comprehensive win is simply unbelievable. A bit of complacency and inexperience on the part of Capt Kohli did contribute to the shock defeat. The prolonged spell of pacers on the 1st and 3rd day actually allowed the SLans to get away the way they did giving them the crucial 175 runs lead which turned tricky on the turning pitch on the 4th day. Bhajji too failed to give breakthrough when needed making things difficult for team India. Perhaps young Kohli will learn from this experience. However Kohli is right that the defensive approach and inept batting on the 4th day had been the main reason for the unexpected loss. They played spin like novices ! The shock loss does raise many questions. What next ? Can India bounce back ? Gavaskar feels India can bounce back . But for that India batting has to click and likes of Kohli and Rohit will have to deliver.

BOWLERS not to blamed its our famed batting and greatest of all Rohit Sharma.. He is only to play 20-20 AND IPL rest he is only a club level player to max..
The famed indian batting team snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and gave our neighbours a beautiful indian independence day gift, which only these magnanimous 11 can do.
