For all technical purposes, the BCCI is merely a "Society" registered under the Societies Act; they have every right to conduct their affairs they want. What, however, galls is the fact that they lay claim to ‘represent’ the country in the sports world! The only forum Team India could have played as the “national” team was the Asian games, which the BCCI chose to skip. Rest all are fixtures mandated by ICC, another private body BCCI is affiliated to. It is time, that the Government should make a legal move to withdraw BCCI's right "control" cricket in India [at least, to ‘represent’ India]. All other 'national' sports bodies are elected representative bodies amenable to Olympic Charter whereas BCCI has its own Constitution which has been amended at will to circumvent 'conflict of interest' and manipulation of election-clauses.
