SCRAP 15DEG CHUCKING RULE AND MAKE IT LEGAL FOR SPINNERS
by damodaran mohan on Sep 15, 2014 01:56 PM  | Hide replies

The proposal of use of technology to check 'chucking' is silly. This use of technology cannot be compared to DRS which doesn't bother or mess with individual players having to wear some 'detectors' etc. Why should any players agree for that ? Cricket is one of the oldest of games evolving through centuries and now it has metamorphed into shorter versions too during the last 5-6 decades. Any rule or law which is difficult to enforce due to confusion in ‘detection’ needs review. This 15deg ‘chucking’ rule appears to be one such rule difficult to enforce mainly becausee the detection is difficult and becomes debatable mostly. Correcting ‘chucking’ through lab trials is even worse as the field and lab conditions are totally different and player can always bowl differently under the two conditions and hoodwink. Question is to what extent does ‘excess bending’ gives advantage in taking more wickets for aspinner? Is it practicable to assess how many more wickets the so called ‘chucker’, say Ajmal has been able to take with that extra bending ? Can’t it be true even with so called ‘chucking’ he might not have been always successful in taking wickets ? Besides, checking chucking by itself is problematic for field umpires especially for spinners. For pacers it could be a easier job.So what is the big deal why not scrap the archaic ‘chucking ‘ law for at least ‘spinners’ an

Chucking

The test for chucking is really for the fast bowlers, because they throw at greater speeds than when they bowl. No slow bowler can hurt and those targetted by the ICC are from the Asian & West Indies. This hounding should stop!!

you don't understand what chucking is ... fast blowers will get the speed only if they swing their arms... you cannot do any chucking there as it will alter your speed.
Slow bowlers can throw (chuck) that can hit the stump wih accuracy.
