OPENERS INCONSISTENCY COULD MAR INDIA'S CHANCES
by damodaran mohan on Sep 10, 2014 06:30 PM  | Hide replies

(contd.)Coming to pace attack, death bowling becomes very critical. It was heartening to see Md Shami’s best ever death bowling efforts in England. Others ,especially Ishant must practice those ‘in swinging Yorkers,toe-crushers etc.Varun Aron must get his short deliveries right and Umesh Yadav his line and length. Bowlers names ? B Kumar,Md Shami,Varun Aron,Ishant Sharma,Umesh Yadav,R Ashwin,R. Jadeja and Karan Sharma---8 nos.Batting? The team that played in England plus may be one more bat---Dhawan,Rahane,ViratK,Raidu,Raina,Dhoni,M Vijay,K.Jadav/NOjha/W Shaha. For India to have any reasonable chance the opening pair has to be consistent. “Law of averages” works alright when it come to batting but in case of Dhawan and Rahne it is they who seem to make it work ! Yes, the way they throw their wicket in the very next innings after a big knock consistently is really worrying. India’s chances could evaporate right in the initial rounds itself if these two openers are bent on throwing their wickets the every innings next to a good knock and don’t show consistency.

DHONI HAS TO BACK HIS SPINNERS IN WC IN AUS
by damodaran mohan on Sep 10, 2014 06:21 PM

While at this stage it is difficult to assert India's chances of defending the title but India are certainly one of the top favourites. On comparative basis India’s biggest plus is the captaincy, given that Dhoni is undoubtedly the best out of the lot the way he can take risks. Other factors relating to batting and bowling, it will depend upon to the extent the side is able to adapt to the conditions, India must be seized of the reality that its pace attack alone cannot win matches for India. India has to invariably plan based on a pace-spin combo attack. So Dhoni has to believe that Spinners have to be made to exploit the conditions to the extent feasible with subtle variants of slow bowling ---line,length,flight,turn and a chance unpredictability has to be factored in into the spin bowling to not just keep a tight disciplined bowling but also to deceive the batters into hurrying into playing shots that could fetch wickets. Indian spinners will have to have belief that they could get wickets and should not rule out the possibility on Aus wickets. Getting LBW decisions will not be all that easy. So spinners must try for other modes— caught in the deep,bat-pad catch, stumping, bowled etc. About Ashwin’s bowling overseas , later.

Success Percentage
by c v sureshkumar on Sep 08, 2014 11:39 AM

Looking at the past success percentage of Indian team, we cannot say anything about this team. No prediction so far as Indian team is concerned as players do not look like determined / disciplined enough to win any match. If it happens, its well and good. That is the situation so far as indian team is concerned.

See what happened in England (do not blame English conditions because if you want to remain a top team, you will have to perform irrespective of conditions) We had just 40% success rate on an average. Lost the Test and T20 series miserably while just because England played poorly, had a positive result in ODI. In such a situation, we cannot repose confidence in this team. They bowl as if there is no intention; bat as if its the end of the world; and fielding is also not worthy of mentioning. So, this does not make any team great and make it deserve to rule the world.

India will be knocked out badly

Nobody has filled up the positions of Tendulkar & Yuvaraj who made valuable contributions in the last world cup. Nobody from the current crop looks capable either.

A former Thane district president of the Shiv Sena was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping a 15-year-old. Police said that the incident had come to light the same day, after the Std X girl delivered a baby at a local hospital in Mira Road and, on questioning, revealed the name of Bashu Nambiyar, who had allegedly raped her in January.
