even if we assume that dhoni is more comfortable in shorter format...still his record in test format is also outstanding...in all departments as a captain as a batsman and as a wicket keeper...

as a captain he has maximum TEST wins...not bad for supposedly one who has not much interest in tests...
as a batsman too he has better record than many specialist batsmen (and not only of india)...again not bad for some one who is supposedly not that much interested in test cricket...
as a wicket keeper too he has the best record...not only in catching but even in stumping which is supposed to be a sign of good wicket keepers...again not bad for someone supposedly disinterested in tests format...
over all too he is fifth in the list of top wicket keepers in international cricket...where he has over 600 wickets which include 131 stumpings again the maximum by any wicket keeper...breaking sangakkara's record and while sangakkara record is from 563 international matches (test odis and T20s) dhoni took just 381 international matches to reach that record...

SMG was talking about Dhoni's captaincy skills in tests, not his worth in the team. There is no doubt about his place in the team, but there are doubts about his captaincy in tests especially outside sub continent.Till date he has only 4 wins,in that 2 against NZL and WI,which are not exactly strong teams when it comes to tests,1 against SA and 1 in the recent test series against ENG.
Though there was marked improvement in the way they played against SA & NZL earlier this year and the first 2 tests in the current series, the remaining 3 tests again reminded us of the Indian teams of the 90s which used to fold in that abject manner.Winning & losing are part & parcel of the game, but the way they lost was humiliating without a fight.

he has 5 wins... apart from 1 against sa 1 in against eng 2against nz and wi ...he has also 1 against SL..
and btw the captain who is supposedly better than him- in overseas tests at least, i.e. ganguly has 6 away test wins against BD and Zim (3 against each)
SMG scored 36 runs and remained unbeaten in the first world cup in 1975. It was Kapil Dev-Srikanth and now Dhoni who made the game very dynamic for India... Now the new breed of batsmen like Sikhar Dhwan, Kohli, Dhoni hit the ball hard like Viv Richards of SMG era.

Don't agree to that,Srikanth was more or less like Shahid Afridi, blind madness and nothing else.If it comes off, then it's great else it's embarrassing. That's why he was dead meat against quality fast bowlers like Akram & Walsh, who tormented him no end.It was Akram who ended his career.

Are you nuts? Srikanth was supposed to be the nemesis for pacers like Imran Khan (see the stats), Same with Wasim for you information!Don't just blabber anything without any information

he is talking about making the game dynamic ...not about how consistent srikkanth was...even though there also he was not bad especially in that era where odi was not developed as much as it is now...
srikkanth brought aggression and dynamism in the game which is completely true...
B'coz he has more competent ODI team than Test team. When you know that they are neither going to bat well nor bowl well, the comfort level will definitely get a beating. It is not him but the BCCI,to blame.
all Indian,Pakistani and Bangladesh players don't show much interest in test cricket except Sri Lanka. Even the spectators are only interested in excitement and results.
