of Varun Aaron, Umesh Yadav, Shami can be groomed. There are several district level players who easily clock upwards of 135k but give up early to pursue other careers to eke out a living. Was in Orissa at a cousins place a long time ago and witnessed one of the most menacing left arm pace bowling by a guy who was barely 19 but had the mind of a veteran pacer. He took 7 wickets in 4 overs, defended his team total of 78 and bowled out the opposition for a paltry 26 runs especially when the chasing team were considered the top batting side in the district. In Mitchel Johnson I see what I witnessed some 16 odd years ago as a teenager. The most impressive left arm pace bowling in the least likely of places.

India needs a dozen Javagal Srinath and Agarkars who never gave up on pace. Went through injury and came back stronger.
ODIs
----
Agarkar - 27.85(avg)
Srinath - 28.08(avg)

Not bad for someone who bowled in the subcontinent for most of their lives.

Zaheer Khan was the only successful bowler who cut down on pace but was menacing with the red cherry.

Y dont cash rich BCCI look yesteryear greats from WI for bowling coach? Ambrose or Bishop with their natural aggression would be great. Sir Viv for batting coach roles. Come on BCCI look for carrebian Calypso

Not stopping the fast bowlers fm bowling fast

I remember once Waseem Akram, one of the greatest of fast bowlers, saying that, Imran Khan just told him to "bowl fast" that's it. Even after almost 20 years of hearing that, our captains and seniors harp on the youngsters to "slow down but keep up the line and length". The irony is, when the batsman knows what your line-length is, you become predictable and then, you know kya haal hota hei aise bowler ka!? See, any batsman for that matter will be uncomfortable to deliveries over 135-138 kmph. If you bowl still faster, then, you can escape with occasional mistakes in your line & length whereas, if you are on the slower side, even your "line & length deliveries may not be spared. AND that's how our bowlers get spanked by daring batsmen. AND Against this backdrop, understand that, our batsmen make mistakes to express deliveries as they are not used to them in their practice sessions or at National level games. There are very many examples, the latest being Munaf Patel, who had come into the national side based on his winning some MRF Fast Bowling Competition and probably had clocked somewhere around 150 kmph but after a few months, he turned out to be a medium paced swing bowler at 130 k; same had happened with Irfan Pathan too with many more in the past. Vidambana hei yar. We have to accept that, we cannot win international games especially test matches without 2-3 genuine fast bowlers shooting yorkers and banging snorters at 140-14

Munaf was weak, lacked endurance to bowl even 4 overs on the trot. Had serious fitness issues. Shami and Umesh on the other hand remind me of Kapil, Darren Gough who can keep bowling endlessly. More strength to the duo.

I don't think so. Indian coaches don't encourage fast bowlers.I guess Munaf was told to cut down on his pace, and being a lad from a village background not given good advice.
