'VIRAT ' TEST FOR ALL THE 15 INDEED
by damodaran mohan on Oct 22, 2014 03:18 PM  | Hide replies

I missed Gavaskar’s show on NDTV this morning so I really do not know his views but I think for once after a long time the selectors seem to have scored a perfect 10/10 at least in the SL one dayers’ matches selection and other related decisions. All 15 appear to be spot on for once, yes for once. Right decisions ? Overworked Dhoni and Bhuvi rested. Not picking irresponsible Rohit Sharma.Dropping the lottery winner, Kuldip Yadav and continuing with Axar Patel and Amit Mishra. Recalling Ravichandran Ashwin. Checking the temptations of thrusting Sanju Samson and Binny Jr on the Indian side. Picking a sr WK batsman W/Saha who appears to be in good form in recent times. Giving chance to Varun Aron and making Virat who I hope is travelling alone, lead the side. The SL series will be a good test for Virat both as a batter and a captain ,the openers--atrociously rash shot making Dhawan and frequent soft dismissal man against run of play Rahane , Ashwin with his pause or no pause …etc. Ashwin is supposed to be a spinner primarily but it is the ‘spin’ or turn which appears to be missing from his bowling even on ‘turning’ wickets ! So he must spin and turn the ball first and last. Rest of the variations can wait. It is also a good opportunity for Varun Aron to test his speed and effectiveness of his shprt balls besides test of pacers’ death bowling caliber in general. Last but not the least Ambatti Raidu has to play a big innings

Kohli to lead India

It is a pity that indian team has become the personal property of a bunch of jokers who are not interested in national pride but in accommodating their favourites in the team. Otherwise how can one explain the inclusion of Saha in the team? Is he the best keeper batsman in the country? Certainly not. Naman Ojha, Karthik, and Parthiv Patel are all better keepers as well as batsmen.

Saha is the safest bet because he is not capable of performing to claim a permanent place in the Indian team!!!

For your kind information Saha is the best keeper in the country- even better than Dhoni- Dhoni is the better batter in ODI and is captaincy material. Its just bad luck for Saha that he is born in the same era as Dhoni

This is more like Dhoni's team. He doesn't want anybody out of his group. Utthappa is from KKR so definitely he will not favour him.

Uthappa is a competitor to Dhoni as a batsman/wicketkeeper...so as long as Dhoni rules the team...he will not be in team India for sure.

Most Indian batsmen flopped outside India, excepting VVS Laxman, Dravid, and sometimes, Tendulkar.

Why Sanju Samson is not included

I think Sanju Samson would be good choice in place of MSD.
