Freak accidents do happen in Cricket field as in other sports. The major freak accidents besides the latest one are: Raman Lamba - IND - Did not survive Abdul Aziz - PAK - Did not survive Ewen Chatfield - NZ - Survived by prompt action by Physio Mark Boucher - SA - Survived but had to quit cricket Saba Karim - IND - Survived but had to quit cricket Mark Vermulen - NZ - HIT TWICE .Survived Anil Kumble - IND Mike Gatting - ENG
The Best tribute the AUS Board and ICC can pay to him is, Play with 10 Players in the 1st Test. Name him in the Playing eleven.
If they are so overwhelmed by the grief of this loss, they should also cancel the 2015 World Cup!
Sir, this young batsman (Phil Hughes, may his soul rest in peace!) was struck below the helmet on the neck which ultimately resulted in his death. Raman Lamba was struck on the head while fielding but he was NOT wearing a helmet at that moment. So blaming helmets is not called for. However, I agree that they must be used and should be of high quality.
Sir, while I agree to your recommendation that more safe and high quality helmets need to be made and used in the game. However, this young batsman (Phil Hughes, may his soul rest in peace!) was struck below the helmet on the neck which ultimately resulted in his death.

Stop being so melodramatic. Do you mean to say that when Ayrton Senna died racing the grand prix, his team should have sent out a car wihout a driver in the race to honor his death?

Wicket keeper batsman Naary Contractar of India hit was struck by bouncer of Charles Griffith of West Indies. He also left the cricket.
and in construction sites and many more places like trains etc. And people in this third world country are worried about the safety aspect of some sport that does no good .
RIP ,Phil. Ex Indian Cricketer Raman lamba too died many years ago, when a ball struck him while he was fielding at short leg.It is high time when manufacturers start making high security helmets.Feel pity for the bowler unfortunately who will have this guilt the rest of his life...
