Phillip Hughes met with his fate
by m l aggarwal on Nov 27, 2014 03:55 PM  | Hide replies

The 'Gentlemen game' has become 'War Game'. Lot of money & fame has spoiled the basic ethics of the cricket game. The aim has been shifted from taking the wickets through bowling & fielding techniques to terrorize the players and get the wickets.
Time has come to discuss and agree to frame 'Basic Rules' for bowling Speed,Bouncers etc.

its the batsmen to be blamed for hits like this,, they cannot really play cricket,, coz of 20 20.

the rules in the past 20 years have been changed so much in favor of the batsmen,, bowlers of today are nothing in comparison with those of the 70s and 80s,, both in terms of quality and speed.

dont suggest a knee jerk reaction to this tragedy,, batsmen have to learn how to play fast bowling,, less one days/2020s,, and more test cricket,, will improve the technique,, and better protective gear,

RIP Phillip Hughes

Well Hughes was a great Batsmen and may his soul rest in peace. May be there needs to be more precautions taken while playing the game. It may seem like going to war but people need to cover the vital parts. If a all hits the chest area then the batsmen's fate would b sealed for ever.

an eye opener for barsmen safety
by Prakash Balajepalli on Nov 27, 2014 02:00 PM

Sorry for Peter. Since cricket is now no more a recreation sport but more a professional lucrative sport, I suggest that with immediate effect all batsmen should wear a boxing headgear inside their helmet , this should also cover the back of head till the neck with holes for ears. The helmet should be designed to have double protection guard for ears.

Make stronger helmet
by NIRJHAR MAJUMDAR on Nov 27, 2014 01:32 PM

Helmet is made to protect the head.Make it as strong as possible.
Bouncer is a negative bowling. When you can not beat a batsman with your pace or swing, you throw a bouncer.
After all, your objective is to take a wicket, not to intimidate a batsman.

RIP Phil. I see a lot of talk about banning bouncers. Just imagine if airlines stopped flying because of one accident. This is the same. Very rarely does something like this happen and you have to be extremely unlucky.

You are correct if a barrage of similar incidents happened. it is better people if people played gilli danda if bouncer s banned. It will come to a stage where only mediocre military medium pacers and spinners will be allowed to bowl and batsmen will beat the shit out of them.

Raman Lamba didnt use a helmet during that fateful day, but this happened even with helmet on. The safety aspect of helmets need to be looked into seriously henceforth.
