Rethink about bouncers
by Shivakumar R on Nov 28, 2014 09:18 AM  | Hide replies

ICC should start thinking about Bouncers in cricket...Currently it is one per over in One day and No limit in Test cricket. It is high time we change this rule and ban the bouncers, we can't afford losing people's lives. Cricket can survive without bouncers.

In test matches also make it one per over....banning it would not come in good taste....batsmen should be more tactful and alert when dealing bouncers..... there was no hue and cry when Nari Contractor of India was hit on hed (without helemt) by a delivery from Gilchrist of west indies, bowling at 95 mph...pace.

Cancel the Entire Tour of Australia and also the World Cup
by jastine m on Nov 28, 2014 12:52 AM  | Hide replies

The Entire Test Series and One Day Internationals should be Called off. And no World Cup should be played this year. That is a mark of true respect Only then we can consider ourselves as humans. Else we are all Barbaric. As good as a Cannibal who needs to indulge even on dead corpses. Shame on Mankind. Bring back those good old days of Mourning. The world was a better place then. Show some respect to human Life. Forget the money. The net result of such money would be zero. After all its only a Game and not War. Watching this years Ind Aus Cricket would be the equivalent of eating human meat. And only people with Extreme Bad Taste can enjoy this.

If you want to do like this.... there will be no end !!!! If tomorrow a prominent person expires again you have to do same process !!! Cancelling the matches is not a right choice,,!!!!!!

This is the first time someone has died on the Cricket Pitch. Its one thing Dying in Car Accident or somewhere else which is pure destiny. But another thing to die in front of thousands of spectators. You can certainly go a head and forget everything and watch the game still rooting for bouncers which shows you are no less an animal.

Sir, either you are living in a perfect place which may exist in one or two places on earth or you are too emotional that made you write like this. It is a game and accidents happens. Some accedents are very serious like this one. Your sayings are good if the deaths are related to war, starvation and etc.. Having said that, every sports lover will mourn the death of Phil..The game should continue with better helmets, pads and protective gear. They did not stop Formula one race because Ayrton Senna died in an accident. They did improve the safety features of the track and the race cars.

Time to Change Rules for Hit Wicket
by Jehan Mir on Nov 28, 2014 12:43 AM  | Hide replies

This unfortunate, tragic event should cause ICC to review related Cricket Rules when a player is seriously injured during play. During First Test between Pakistan and New Zealand, Pakistan's opening batsman Ahmad Shahzad was seriously injured by a bouncer on the right temple and zygomatic arch area of face, an injury which could have been just as lethal, had he been hit just few inches above. His bat flew off his hands, he reeled, staggered and fell on ground listlessly. His bat flew out of his hands and hit the wickets while he was on his way down and he was declared 'Out'. Besides providing more protective face and head helmets, the ICC should amend 'Hit Wicket' rules. The First Rule should state that it should be'hit wicket' only when the batsman still has the bat in his hands when he hits the wicket. Second Rule should be if batsman is seriously injured before he hits wicket,he should be found 'Not Out' whether or not batsman is able to continue the play. Both such factors were present in Ahmad Shahzad's case and he should be declared'Not Out' retroactively.

Strange that the opposing team did not withdraw the appeal. Is display sportsman spirit confined only to teams from the sub continent only?

Tragedy on the turf. Nari Contractor almost died in West Indies in 1962. But abandoning a Test match is not the right decision. Life has to go on, that is the philosophy of existence.

I think that the Indian Cricket Team must go but not to play...Instead to pay homage....Remember its a battlefield and no matter what ..... Life goes on... Loss of life cannot be compared to money or anything....By going there will also increase a bond between the nations as it is not only about cricket....but our Indian nationals work, study, live there....

Phillip Hughes will surely would want to see the match go on. I would suggest the IND-AUS series should be named after him as a tribute. May the departed soul rest in peace
