India should take note
by subhash phadkar on Nov 26, 2014 08:43 AM

The deadly blow to Young Australian batsman during a domestic tournament in Australia is a warning bell to team India, what to expect in Australia during their long tour.A helmet does not protect all of your head if you duck under the bouncing ball awckwardly taking your eyes away from the rising ball.

Get well soon Phil. In-spite of him wearing the helmet he has been critically injured ! this clearly indicates the quality of the helmet. The ICC should impose strict quality parameters for the companies manufacturing these life saving cricketing gears { Helmet, Abdomen guard etc.,), otherwise such grave incidents are bound to happen frequently.

Let us Pray and hope his injury recovers and we see him Bat for Australia again.

Cricket Helmets need to be Re-Designed and further strengthened after this incident.

Let us hope Australia, South Africa, England, New Zealand & West Indies abandon Fast and Bouncy wickets and adopt Flat Batting and Spinner friendly pitches like India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan & Bangladesh.

In India the ball does not bounce above waist height and hence the chance for injury is really negligible.
