The key is batting
by Gurjot Singh on Nov 24, 2014 05:19 AM

All our batsmen must play to match the hype. Our pacers cannot bowl enough overs. If we put up 500 plus then only we will have some chance.

CAPTAIN KOHLI MUST NOT REPEAT CAPTAIN DHONI'S MISTAKES--2
by damodaran mohan on Nov 23, 2014 08:07 PM

(contd.) It is a cliché to say that bowlers have to take 20 wickets to win a test but it is the batting which is going to decide the course of the Tests series for sure given the recent past pathetic sub300 scores Indians have been just managing to score overseas! And who but Kohli has to lead from front with bat with support from Pujara Rohit,Ajinkay Rahane……forming a stable middle order that wouldn’t collapse. One more positive is this young side led by an aggressive captain is indeed exhibiting lot of energy, intent and confidence to make a match of it and not cave in tamely as in past. The sudden emergence of the quartet of young pace attack of 140 plus club in addition to Bhuvi’s ‘swing’ at the start is another surprise package which could give a perfect start before the spinners to take over.Umesh Yadav has been a revelation with his ‘control’ on line and length looking capable of effecting a mini collapse in his second spell of the depleted aussie batting minus Michael Clark. So on the whole there is every reason for optimism that this overseas tour is going to set a new trend.

CAPTAIN KOHLI MUST NOT REPEAT CAPTAIN DHONI'S MISTAKES--I
by damodaran mohan on Nov 23, 2014 08:03 PM

The new captain of India Narendra Modi said in MCG that Aus should export lot of ‘sportsman spirit’. But it seems what the aussies and their media are exporting are a poor variant of SS---‘mind games’ even before Kohli &co. left Indian shores! One guy says Indians will lose 0-4 with the media not left far behind ……and so it remains to be seen to what extent Modi is going to be right about the type pf SS they exhibit when Indians land there and take to the ground. No repetition of ‘Monkey gate’ or the English ‘james Anderson episode’ please. Now coming to the Indian side the stop gap captain Virat Kohli at least seem to be handling the press as if he has been captain for 25 Tests and not making a beginning as Ravi Shastri observed about what Kohli is going to be in Aus ! But I think as a captain the most important thing Virat Kohli must do will be to not repeat the mistakes of M.S. Dhoni as Test captain—invariably chosing a wrong playing XI,set a defensive or negative field, waiting for things to happen and allow the game to drift rather than effecting pro-actively bowling changes for things to happen…etc. etc.Further we can only hope the stand-in captain will be able to reproduce the same ‘press conference form’ with the bat as well.

being aggressive
by Subash on Nov 22, 2014 08:21 PM

Being aggressive is one thing. Picking up row over everything is another thing. In the last tour to Australia, Kohli reacted aggressively when a aussie player came to congratulate Kohli for scoring 100, that too towards the end of a disastrous tour for india. That is not being aggressive, but unsporting behaviour. That should be avoided.

young and energetic
by wcpak on Nov 22, 2014 03:27 PM  | Hide replies

compared to the team which toured in 2011,I can see that this team is more energetic and young.Batsmen like Rahane,Rohit,Kohli,Dhawan etc are never afraid. The fast bowling unit also has some experience under them with more options. I surely expect this team to do well doen under. All the best.

by srirama chandra rao on Nov 22, 2014 01:44 PM  | Hide replies

The team under Virat is young and positive. They should go with this positive frame of mind as indicated by Kohli and they should have self belief. All the best for the team
