Cleanse the gentleman's game
by Shoumit Bhattacharya on Nov 14, 2014 05:15 PM  | Hide replies

All manner of vices have become an integral part of the IPL.The people running the show are crooks. It is a national shame that dubious characters have been allowed to head the ICC. Unless these inidividuals are promptly removed and put behind bars, the game shall be dragged to fresh lows. All players suspected guilty should be immediately suspended for the long term. Moreover, betting should be legalised so that Indians have another form of investment besides land and gold, and hot money doesn't play havoc in India and ultimately end up financing terror.

The crookedness starts from Tamil Nadu, using the DMK and AIADMK philosophy (both Dravidian parties). Gone are the ethics of leaders like Kamaraj, Annadurai, Rajaji, Sir CP Ramaswamy Iyer, and Venkataraman, or Omandur Ramaswamy Reddiar. These people worked for the state and nation, regardless of their community or birth. Now, we have a set of corrupt people who cannot even come close to some of the leaders in Bihar, Uttar Prades,Gujarat or MAharashtra (at the moment).

Betting can be legalised but match fixers should be heavily punished both financially and imprisonment.

Betting is now part and parcel of Sports. Millions of Dollars are spent on Betting on Football, far more in excess of cricket betting.

I do not understand the double standard of the Government. While they allow Horse Racing officially, they go on to ban betting on sports.

Its time we allow legal betting so that the Government earns some revenue. Otherwise Mafia will make more money and use it for subversive activities.

Many countries have regularised betting. It improves Government's revenue.

No law can help if it is intended to curb Man's natural instinct. America has casinos, Betting companies. Although i am not comparing India with them, but Government should think of a long term approach on Betting.

What if some matches are 'FIXED'? If you love cricket just enjoy the way they play. Otherwise just don't bother. If you stop watching IPL then it will die out naturally.

What if some matches are fixed? The support for these fixers is really amazing...we are basically a corrupt nation and all these discussion are merely time Pass. Political parties do not have anything to say on this because every single party is probably party to this.
In one aspect you are right...if you don't like this stop watching it. But there are enough scoundrels in this country of billions to still follow this ...
