when it comes to any player who was always in the interest of the team, Sir Kapil Dev is miles ahead of this record blaster.

What was Sachin's contribution to bringing world cup? Zero. Did he really deserve to be carried on shoulder by his team mates around the field after the end of the final match? I don't think so. We have made a hype about Tendulkar and he is showing his real shallowness by commenting on people who are way above him. At least Kapil Dev didn't play for his own record, he played for his country.

Right or wrong Sachin Tendulkar scored about 50 centuries and a double century in international one day cricket against tough oppositions. Hence, his contributions in this area are quite solid.

the real reason for tendulkar lashing at kapil is becoz..kapil tried to fix matches when he was coach...which sachin did not like...so he is venting his anger this way since he can't reveal about the fixing

Yes. Tendulkar has proved himself to be the worst sportsman despite being conferred Bharat Ratna & India has insulted the award itself by giving Bharat Ratna to a person like TEndulkar.

We should all keep in mind that it was Kapil Dev who after winning 1983 world cup brought the peoples' interest on cricket back on track. Before 1983, nobody thought India could win, it was his memorable captaincy that showed India could be world champion. He is not being forgotten, but imagine if India didn't win 1983 world cup where would have been the Indian cricket? I still remember the day I watched India's win at Lords. I didn't watch India-Zimbabwe match where he score 178 not out, but read the report and couldn't believe it was true at the first moment.

The India Zimbabwe match has not been covered by Television, as the broadcaster was on strike that day. What a pity, no footage of Kapils exploits exist.

Kapildev is one of the Cricketers who didn't play for his records but played for the Country, unlike Tendulkar who played only for records. Readers will note that all then tests/matches when Tendulkar scored Century (the last 10 matches or so) India has lost the match including his 50th test century (against Bangladesh) or whatever, I dont care to remember. The news highlighted Tendulkar's Century than the test we lost. Shame on our reporters.

Praising and honoring Tendulkar does not mean that Kapil Dev is not a cricket legend by himself. Among the fast bowlers, he was the best batsman. His bowling was slightly superior to those of Sir Ian Botham and Sir Garfield Sobers or Jacques Kallis. His batting was distinctly superior to those of Imran Khan and Sir Richard Hadlee and other top-class fast bowlers like Dennis Lillee, Keith Miller, Ray Laindwall, Andy Roberts, Malcolm Marshall, Michael Holding, Joel Garner, etc.

If you take Tendulkar as a standard than Kapil is not less than him. However Tendulkar is glorified more than Kapil.

Sachin should stop commenting on others. Talk on the right time, right place and to right people. Now your book will sell like hot cakes.

He had no guts to say all this when he was playing. Now when he said this, at least 50% of his admirers must have realised what kind of a cheap person this fellow is. Check records, Vinod Kambli is a better batsmen but for his arrogance. VVS Laxman is a far better/perfect batsmen except for records. No wonder Australians did never tease only Laxman when he was batting because of his gentlemanly batting but Australians have teased every batsmen at the crease. That is VSS Laxman's perfection. Even Australians could not stop appreciating his batting skills but the same treatment/testimonial was not given to Tendulkar. No wonder. Now Tendulkar has exposed what he really is made of.

Sachin Tendulkar was a disappointing captain himself and blaming to Kapil Dev as a coach is a blame game to coverup his failure as a captain. In his book he has not written any thing about MSD as a captain who is real Hero who crafted victories of T 20 World cup,2011 world cup and No.1 position in Test matches and many more victories.

I completely agree with you that Tendulkar is Covering up his captaincy failure. Though I respect him for his batting prowess, but I have a impression that he doesn't respect others views on game entirely. As a captain that was the main drawback and that is why Kapil must have not keen to involve during the strategic discussions. It was only Sourav Ganguly after becoming captain started taking his own decisions and hence the results started in favour of Inida. Sachin has got a bad pride and try to bully others when it comes to cricketing talks.

yes,Sachion conveniently forgot to badmouth himself for his behaviour in the Multan test, I think 2004.
If he had dedicated a few paragraphs on the mistakes of his behaviour, I would have appreciated.

Nilayan, especially in Indian cricket a longer rope is given to players when they are on the verge of making some world record and it's applicable to well known players like Kapil and Sachin.
However, Sachin's attitude and being completely inflexible attitude on his batting position clearly reflects he was primarily concerned about his personal records and statistics.
Remember the Multan test in 2004? After playing for almost 15 years and being a senior member of the team, he was on air, with a swollen face, complaining that he was upset because he could not make his double century.
