Chappel
by Aditya Misra on Nov 07, 2014 04:41 PM

Within a year of his arrival Chappel had started showing his intentions. He was appointed as the coach, not as the team manager or the captain. The duty of the coach is to assist captain, whereas Chappel was trying to be the boss, who was dictating terms. And his intent was to harm Indian cricket by sowing seeds of mistrust between the players. He had connection with senior BCCI officials beyond cricket is also obvious. Kiran More, who was among the selectors had fallen to his bait and was playing in his hands. A team of More's coaching centre was sent to Australia as a reward for dropping the players Chappel did not want. We have forgotten all that. He knew that a strong Team India under Ganguly would be impossible to be beaten by Ponting's Aussies. So he destroyed the team and result was seen by all. We lost the fiorst round match and Ganguly was made the scape goat.

THE MOST UNFAIR CRITICISM AGAIN GREG CHAPPEL!
by Kabeer on Nov 07, 2014 02:04 PM  | Hide replies

All having said, the most unfair criticism leveled against Greg Chappel and accepted by the whole civilised world is his ordering the bowler to bowl under arm in the New Zealand test match which required a last ball 6 to win the match.

Greg only ordered what was legal; he didn't order what was illegal. Bowling under arm was legal at that point of time and Greg as a Captain used that legitimate option to win the match; I don't see what's wrong with that. Applying sweat on the cricket ball to get the swing is legal though from a sense is unfair but no one complains.

WHy Greg was so critised for this?

Because it was not sportsman spirit. Was he not confident that his bowler would deny a six? It was such a low thing to do that the underarm got banned subsequently. If it was the right thing to do, then it would not have been banned.

If you say so about 'Legal' than even a batsman being given out while he touched a ball with hand; even if it is to hand over to fielder is ok?! Even 'Mankading' without warning is ok?1 There is a difference being 'legal' and being in spirit of the game .

This men did not come here for coaching. His main intention was to destroy Indian team & leak out our secrets to his country board..Time has come our Board must act prudently in not going for foreign coaches any more...From within our country we have many ex-cricketers who can undertake this job more effectively...why not pay to our country-men instead of paying lavishly to outsiders???
