It is thanks to Chappell that Indian Cricket got freed from the yokel of limiting itself to the Big Stars n Big Cities. It is what it is because of his initial efforts .If not for him, there would have been no scope for Dhoni/Raina/Jadeja ... and the young world cup winning teams of 2020,50 Overs and Test No.1. The World Cup 2007 defeats were largely due to the irresponsible batting of Sehwag and inadequacy of Sachin to stand up and be counted against Sri Lanka . For all of his (Sachin Tendulkar) achievements, it was Sourav Ganguly/Rahul Dravid/VVS Laxman that the opposition feared : when India would be fighting with its back to the walls ! Greg Chappell deserves the "Dronacharya Award" ; not "Chappells" !
