(contd.) Ishant Sharma bowled one of his best ever spells, even better than those seen in England. The ball that got Sangha out was easily the ball of the match. The next four matches swill tell us if Ishant has indeed turned the corner and is at his career best in consistency. Spinners too chipped in with their bit with Axar Patel simply excelling. Although expensive but Ashwin too bowled very well and was unlucky, two close decisions not going his way. Ashwin is going to face this LBW problems in AUS too and so he should aim for catches in the deep. On the whole however it must be the openers who rightly had the cake(MOM)the way they approached the game capitalizing on their two lives given by Sangha. The openers seem to have finally understood the ‘opening’ holistically in the context of the changed rules. Raina too came up with his usual quick fire 50. Last but not the least the stand-in C Kohli seems to be learning the C-tricks the way he went about the bowling changes, field placements and above all the pre-ponement of batting PP. Should he keep it up for the next 4 matches then C Dhoni could feel threatened indeed, at least for the TESTs!
The convincing win is a terrific boost to India's WC campaign indeed. Although it could be argues that this SL side is a bowling depleted side not even ready enough for the sudden series. But SL batting was in full strength with two of the senior most on the verge of retiremnt playing a young inexperienced batting side minus Capt. Dhoni! It will be interesting to see how well the SLans put up the fight in the remaining matches. Their bowling appears to be w/o any teeth and their experienced batters except Mahela look rusty. While they were in the game for just the initial 10 bowling overs of PP thereafter it was India all the way. For once the Indian pace attack was a revelation looking as good as any international bowling units of say AUS,SA or WI of yesteryears ! It was a dream pace attack India have been searcing all the while in the context of WC in Aus. DIL KHUSH HO GAYA.Umesh Yadabv for once looked in total ‘control’ of line and length while Varun Aron excelled in pace but only to break down sadly. It is a cause for worry . Perhaps he needs proper guidance because he could be trying beyond his ‘limits’ the way he gets injured frequently.

and not interested to play ...and only interested in sponsorship money. Would they have gone to Zimbabwe or the Caribbeans?...
