CSK LOOK THE GOOD OLD FORMIDABLE SIDE NOW

Good to see the vintage CSK back with comfortable win over MI. Their strategy of packing 4 overseas batsmen at the top has paid off because earlier they were too much dependent on Raina with team struggling and win percentage virtually dipping by 50% once Raina got out. Now with this four plus Raina and Dhoni the side looks formidable indeed like they were in their earlier versions of IPL. The bowling has also improved with Nehra too doing some tight bowling. At Wankhade there will be assistance for spinners too and so Punjab although beaten CSK twice given their loss of form of late might find it difficult to come up with big total with both Maxwell and Miller struggling. Thus CSK certainly appears to have an edge with their new found intimidating batting power house. Coming to the first match unfortunately due to rain and their dip in form of late Punjab were reduced to catching up job all through. KKR on the other hand looked well in command on their home turf with Robin Utthappa as usual leading the batting charge with authority. Only thing is the final being at Bangaluru and not at Eden gardens their bowling attack will be only 50% as effective. So unless likes of Gambhir, Pathan etc. make up for the somewhat sobered bowling attack KKR under Bangaluru conditions stand only half the chance as at Home.

Out of the 8 straight wins for KKR all were virtually one-sided games in favour of KKR. Also only 3 were played at Eden gardens rest were elsewhere, so even with 50% bowling attack KKR is good enough to kill the opponents 100%. Good luck to Chennai or Punjab whoever falls in front of KKR - maynot be very good day for them. So Bengaluru - be prepared to look purple on 1st June.

Mumbai missed Malinga
by Parasuraman on May 29, 2014 03:45 PM

They must have missed Malinga very badly. Had Malinga being there, 170 would have been tough to get
