Dhoni should learn from Kohli
by kalyan karpurapu on May 14, 2014 10:22 AM  | Hide replies

Actions speak louder than words, dhoni should learn how to handle and back match winners rather than chamchas......
Kohli spoke to yuvraj well before the auction that he is going to get him in into RCB.......
Love Kohli the way he is handling players i can see dada in him.....
Please remember dada used to enjoy similar powers when Dalmiya was at helm to pick his own team but DADA has always shown responsibilities in investing in matchwinners.....Sehwag's, Yuvraj's, Zak's & Bajji's....that is the team which lead INDIA to NO.1 in world Test rankings and WON us two world cups............

Dhoni is investing only on Jadeja/Rohit/R Ashwin.etc whom can never be compared to class of DADA's backed players...how many matches these players won matches single handedly

it is because of dhoni that yuvraj played the odi wc...there were calls of his dropping due to continued failure.....but it was because dhoni had confidence in yuvraj's abilities that yuvraj played in the odi wc...if there was any other captain at that time yuvraj would not have been in the wc squad in the first place....

if you look at yuvraj stats in tests and odis you will see he performed much better under dhoni captaincy than under ganguly captaincy...ganguly did not make much of use yuvraj the bowler....it was dhoni who did that....it was under dhoni that yuvraj really performed well than he did under ganguly...

it was dhoni who gave confidence and chances to sehwag yuv zak and bhajji in spite of their many failures...if there was somebody else who was indian captain these four players would have played even less no. of tests and odis than they did...

ganguly never lead india to no 1 ranking any time in his life...on the contrary he holds the dubious records of losing most no. of finals that india reached...as a captain he even lost test matches in sri lanka and zimbabwe with the team that he supposedly built (it is another thing that he inherited that team from azharuddin)when dhoni was nowhere on the horizon...

neither ganguly nor dravid or kumble after him could lead india to no 1 ranking...

it was dhoni who did that...time and again in ALL formats test, odis and T20

many people said that after players like sachin dravid laxman ganguly kumble retired india would be no 8 in all formats...that did not happen...even when these players retired and long gone india still became no 1 in odis and in T20.....even when ganguly kumble srinath were no longer in the side dhoni lead india to no 1 rank in tests....

it was he who gave chances to many new playeres....mishra, ojha, praveen kumar, pujara, kohli raina, rohit, rahane, jadeja, ashwin, shikhar dhawan, bhuvneshwar kumar, shami....the list is long and endless...

the players you ridicule like rohit jadeja ashwin have proved themselves in all formats...ashwin became no 1 ranked test bowler...jadeja became no 1 ranked odi bowler...rohit dhawan scored centuries on debut in tests...dhoni gave rohit opening spot much like ganguly gave sehwag opening spot....and rohit scored at 50 plus averaged in one dayers in 2011 and 2013....

besides these new players he even backed players like zaheer yuvraj bhajji sehwag in their lean times and gave them his support...

it is you who is showing ignorance in cricket understanding...

@Sunil Vaidya....your comments show your lack of Analytical skills as people like you only look at numbers.......investement will never fetch immediate results......its not INDIA became NO.1 first world cricket has declined in quality itself take any INternational team during Dhoni's ERA most of the current INTERNATIONAL teams are B-GRADE teams if you compare 90's TEAMS each team full of LEGENDS.

1. Actions speak louder than words, do not show me press conferences of Dhoni claiming support for Yuvraj.....Every politician in country says he is here to serve people...actions also shoud support words.

Can you help me explain why Yuvraj was not used much as bowler post 2011 wcup?
Why Raina was promoted to NO.4 (last Aus TOUR of INDIA)during the comebacks of Yuvraj where in Yuvraj already announced his form in
T20 by single handedly helping INDIA chase 200 score. Remember dhonis explanation that he wants to try out diff people at No.4 considering Yuvraj's form & Fitness!!!!! Its bowncer isnt it....considering age still on Yuvraj's side to hold till next wcup and form he has shown in comback match this explanation is stupidest unless you are blind support of DHONI...
What is the message he was passing to THE BIGGEST match winner INDIA has ever HAD???????

You call this support????

btw dhoni did not become captain long after ganguly....ganguly never had to face the 90s TEAMS each full of LEGEENDS....

ganguly became captain only in this century....so he did not captain against the legends of past century...he also faced the teams which were without any good players...

@sunil....time and again you are showing your lack of knowledge.......Ganguly was captain while AUS(Ponting/Swaugh/Gili/Hayden/Mcgrath/Swarne/Blee etc), Pak (Wakram/Inzii/Wyounis/S akthar/S Anwar/Afridi), Srilanka(Jayasurya/Atapattu/Murali/Dsilva)....get your basics right before you come to such forums.........

Now if you sum of the quality of such plyers across all teams in current generation = no of quality players in each team of Ganguli's captaincy era)

Also INDIA's ODI success of recent time is due to IPL as most of our players are used to playing pressure situations that is how we are able to chase high scoress with minimum fuss

ganguly was whipped in the finals against aus in the odi world cup...with his strong team he supposedly built....no dhoni near by in the horizon...he could not win the test series in aus...

Dhoni when he became captain for the FIRST time ever in his career in aus defeated no 1 team australia at their home when they were no 1 team in the world in the tri series with ponting the experienced and successful captain eating humble pie at the hands of first-time-captain dhoni with his new team not having ganguly dravid laxman srinath kumble etc...aus team officially no 1 with their full team consisting of ponting gilly clarke hayden hussey symmonds warne lee everybody...

against ponting's aus dhoni captained india 4 times in tsts and winning each and every one of them...against dhoni ponting could not even draw a single test out of 4, leave alone win...

WHERE ARE ??
by Shilpa Mehta on May 14, 2014 09:58 AM  | Hide replies

Now where are all those who blamed

Yuvraj when we lost 20-20 WC finals

against Lanka & asked him to retire ??

Yuvi has won many matches single handedly
for India .
He is a true fighter & match winner who
performs under pressure .

No batsman in current lot can perform under
pressure situations like Yuvraj OR MSD .

@Sunil Vaidya....Ha ha ha this is showing your lack of cricketing knowledge now answer my questions....
1. How many runs were scored by Dhoni in 2008 T20 Wcup victory? or atleast any meaning full contributions in that series?
2. How many runs scored by dhoni in 2011 ODI Wcup Victories except the final where he promoted himself ahead of already inform Yuvraj?
3. How many series or normal cups INDIA has won so far do you remember???? but you can answer how many Wcups india won....

Yuvraj was man of the series...
1. T20 Cup Victory
2. ODI Wcup Vcitory
3. U19 Wcup
4. U16 Wcup

He was the key contributor in record no of successive wins for INDIA (17 times Twice)...

I am not denying MSD isnot match winner but Yuvraj is the biggest matchwinner INDIA has ever had TILL DATE

MSD was always at mercy of other star Indian players performances - like Yuvraj and Sehwag. It is for players like Yuvraj that team India turned in to such a powerful side

it was not succesive 17 times twice....it was 17 times only once and that too while batting second...in between we had lost a few matches while batting first...and apart from yuvraj dhoni was also a key contributor....

yuvraj has scored 8329 runs in odis in 268 innings (i.e. 31.07 runs per innings) dhoni has scored 8046 runs in odis in 214 innings (i.e. 37.59 runs per innings) ..this inspite of the fact that in those 214 innings dhoni batted at no 1-4 only 36 times and 178 times at no 5 or below....while yuvraj batted in those 268 innings 115 times at no 1-4 and 153 times at no 5 or below...dhoni has 9 100s and 54 50s in those 214 innings that means a 50 plus score after each 3.39 innings while yuvraj has scored 13 100s and 51 50s in 268 innings that means a 50 plus score each 4.10 innings...

in winning causes yuvraj has made 5714 runs in 150 innings of 167 odis at 49.68 average with 10 100s and 38 50s....in winning causes dhoni has made 4773 runs in 114 innings of 134 odis with an average of 74.57 with 6 100s and 31 50s

in tests yuvraj has scored 1900 run in 62 innings (30.64 runs per innings) with an average of 33.92 with 3 100s and 11 50s ( a 50 plus score every 4.42 innings) with contribution in test wins 18 tests 23 innings 762 runs at an average of 36.28 runs with 0 100s and 6 50s

in tests dhoni has scored 4459 runs in 130 innings (34.3 runs per innings) with an average of 38.77 with 6 100s and 29 50s ( a 50 plus score every 3.71 innings) and his contribution in test wins is 35 tests 49 innings 2013 runs with an average of 50.32 with 4 100s and 12 50s...

the above figures clearly shows who is the bigger match winner among the two....
