Dhoni's captaincy
by Shridhar Iyer on Mar 26, 2014 05:43 PM  | Hide replies

Oflate he seems to be on the defensive, a sure sign of age is catching up with him! Even the trade mark big hits during the closing stages has come down now-a-days, along with his pepper & salt hair! If he is still dynamic, he should try with Rahane (opener instead of the not so sure Dhawan), and Pujara in the middle order (instead of not so confident Yuvraj in the 2 matches sofar) in the forthcoming matches. One thing is certain, Virat Kohli is fast catching up with Dhoni!

the same Kapil advised Ganguly to retire in 2005 and Ganguly made a strong come back after that....Once he joined the rebel ICL also so no need to think seriously on his advise..Kapil is a legand only as a player...Dhoni can be captain in T20 and ODIs but in tests India needs someone else....even his position as a batsman in tests should be rethinked....

Fully agree with your comments. We should have a new captain for Tests especially when we play abroad.

Let me mention one thing here, all these drama, hue and CRY OF T20 is because of IPL and IPL would not have been there if there would have been no ICL. BCCI declared ICL rebel and everybody what knows what BCCI does.

Many Indians want to remove Dhoni from captaincy because he is from some unknown place, does not belong to Bombay, he is successful,or he plays for CSK a Tamilian owned team.

The place can be unknown to you, do you know much about Ranchi. Ranchi has one of three Xaviers colleges (one of the best in India), BITS, and very good educational institutions (school, colleges). Many IITians are from Ranchi. Just FYI.

I fully endorse what is writen. Dhoni is our best bet and undoubtedly one of the best captains. If you look at our team we only batsmen and are trying to win the game, compare our bowlers to PAK, AUS, NS, WI, SL or even Bangladesh. We are not a formidable bowling attack at current international standards. Amit Mishra has clicked now and very soon opponent players will analyse his strengths and counter them. Unless we attack opposition batsmen like a pack of wolves, that is together, we have no future to regain number one spot. in patches we will do well and when we dont will blame probably the best captain india ever had! You can blame him for everything

why do you blame only bowlers, when we see poorest poor wicket keeping by skipper Dhoni. If one goes trough the record it will reveal countless dropped catches, stumping chances by our less than mediocar standard wicket keeper like Dhoni. Dhoni can somehow manage behind the stump in limited over cricket, but,in test cricket he must be dropped as in test every department is earmarked for specialists. After all, Dhoni is not a specialist wicket keeper.

Boss, if we give him credit for his success as captain then he must also take blame for his failures. He was below average outside india tours but subcontinent flat pitches he is best captain. Why he should not be sacked for his failures?
