I think Viru is past his prime..He couldnt even do well against sub standard teams in the Ranji Trophy..The IPL is more a lottery so with a little luck he might get a couple of good scores..Anyway since he wants to come back all the best to him.
Talent wise there is no lack of talent in Viru. Even today he miles ahead of Rohit sharma and is better opener than him both in ODI/Test. But his ploy against Dhoni cost him his place in side. If he has realized his mistake and apologized to BCCI/Dhoni then surely Indian team can give him a chance.
viru became ambitious and wanted to become Captain so he plotted against Dhoni by using Gambhir in his side. The end result is he was kicked out of the team. Same fate for Gambhir. Hope he realized his mistake and maybe he can come back.
