fast bowlers
by john kannattu on Mar 14, 2014 12:46 AM

The indian cricket board makes dusty pitches where the ball hardly rises more than 60 cm, it is easy for our godly batsmen to score runs and the public likes those heroes, what can we do ? We need pitches where the ball passes through your ears, then only fast bowlers can survive, a captain who fills eight batsmen and 3 fast bowlers and hopes to win test matches is difficult

Indian Bowling..
by dhananjay ingle on Mar 14, 2014 12:05 AM

I think we need extremely aggressive bowlers like Steyn or Mitchel Johnson, who shld be able to make eye-to-eye contact with the batsman (whosoever he may be) & should be able to bowl CONSISTENTLY @ 150 kmph. Moreover, our selectors should show faith/trust on them, even if they fail to take enough wickets for 2-3 series. Our so called great FAST (??) bowlers like XYZ, should STOP ADVISING THEM TO REDUCE THEIR SPEED. We should prepare faster tracks like Perth in some of the cities in India & arrange maximum no. of matches @ those cities. (e.g. Mohali..)

certainly india lacks talent in bowling dept. have to give new bowlers a chance or two.. in international fixtures...as many as possible ..only experiment with bunch of new players can bring out new match winner..we badly need all rounder and bowlers of variety..who have wicket taking ability at any point of time.

IPL reasons
by hillary desouza on Mar 13, 2014 12:51 AM  | Hide replies

We have to learn from historical facts:
When England opened its doors for overseas cricketers to visit them, many bowlers from South Africa, Pakistan and India played county cricket for the season, learnt to play in English conditions. When that happened, English cricket team started declining. The same thing is repeating because of IPL with the Indian team. The overseas players have been exposed to Indian batsmen and bowlers interact with them and have a deeper understanding of their strengths and weakness.
Secondly, foreign team coaches interact with Indian players and understand their strength and weakness and know their game
Thirdly, IPL is a pure batsmen's game and does not develop bowlers who have the mindset of containment for 4 overs.
IPL pays the cricketer way too much money, so the financial reward can kill the motivation to succeed with young people
So the negative effect of IPL for the above combination reasons should be understood and will be felt for a long time.

Bowlers for India
by parkash luthra on Mar 12, 2014 11:25 AM

India needs desparately Swing Bowlers.Do not condemn performers like Ishant Sharma on
flimsy grounds.Who is all the best always.
This is result of MS Dhon's longest
tenure as Captain.Let be ready to suffer
for sometime (never mind) but do not need Dhoni a major faulter since laureate
players were ignored jeleously. Bring back senior cricketers in mainstream. BCCI
to open its closed eyes.Without Prejudice.

Not Ishant's problem at all..
by Mike Teflon on Mar 12, 2014 12:53 AM  | Hide replies

It was the support staff's problem. You first have to identify good fast bowlers and then nurture them physically, mentally, financially and technically.

Give them the confidence and make them bowl on assorted practice wickets..

In Ishant's case, it was a technical error with regard to his wrist position and he was poorly handled by V prasad, D fletcher and the like..

Ishant is just a hit the deck kind of bowler. On pitches that assist him he will bowl well. Otherwise he just need to find the right length to bowl and consistently bowl there in test cricket.

He will never become a swing bowler.. never
