The guy does not deserve a place in the playing eleven. Yuvraj and Raina are miles ahead in class. What's the point of grafting for runs in one dayers. Raina plays for the team and not for his averages..
No role is there for Rahane in WC squad. Everyone saw how he was afraid of taking on Saeed Ajmal in Asia Cup encounter. He was the culprit of making Saeed Ajmal unplayable on that day.

but he is good prospect..need more chances..better than Rohit Sharma,M vijay,Rayudu,Kartik,dhawan,Binny,Tiwari....
If given good chance in One day and Test .... Rahane has enough potential to become next Dravid of India, which is really important for India, as all current batsman are playing test and one day like T20/T10. On the other hand... Rahane is not good for T20.

but we already have next dravid: Chiteshwar pujara...not sure on what ground we can't trust him in ODI?

may be because even dravid wasn't considered to be fit for ODI at one point of time in his career :)
