Is it even news? everybody knows it..y Lara even kallis himself was so much better than Sachin besides Ponting, Dravid, et al were so much better. the diff being the other players played for their countries whereas Sachin played only for records..personal records hence he has more records than all of them combined but that does not make him the best!
Sachin may not have won test matches single handedly.
Sachin has been the best brand ambassador for cricket. No player gets that frenzy support across the world as he gets and that includes Lara, Kallis etc... etc..
Lara has been a prolific scorer on bounce and seaming conditions and has shown his skill and talent on those pitches whereas Sachin has been a suspect of fast bowling and bounce.
Ricky Ponting is the best player in terms of skill, ability to score runs on any kind of surface, has World cup and test victories on all soughts of wickets. He does not has the public appeal as he has been adamant, arrogant but that does not take away anything from his skill and success.
Virat may not beat Sachins Test records but is the best talent in the world today and will definitely beat the like of Lara, Ponting, Sachin, Kallis etc... etc...

But I still feel sad that he will end his career without a world cup in his CV. I dont see Kallis surviving till 2015 WC and I hope I am proved wrong on that..

Many Indians like me also think so. There need be no 'he he he' about it. Get beyond your prejudices. Lara also had the additional advantage of the aesthetics associated with left-handers. Tendulkar, however was hugely talented, bowling seam up, Offies and leg-spinners with almost 200 international Wickets

Dont go with the "he he he" Radhakrishnan. Its like a copyright symbol which some of the users have :)
May be he was counterpart of sachin for long period so it is difficult for him to digest that sachin was best, but apart from last two year sachin was best entertainer in world cricket and many of us are watching cricket because of sachin since he was 16 yr old milky boy.....

Here the tone is different. Kallis was never seem to be a counterpart when lara and sachin were playing although three are of similar age.

The point is the consistency over 25 years or more. Kallis is the greatest allrounder that much I can say and canot be compared with lara and tendulker. But the question here is who is the best among lara and tendulker. The answer in regard with consistancy, i vote for sachin.
Played good entertaining cricket always for the team . Tendy was always trying to grind out records ..crowned by that shameless century against bungle desh ..a match we typically lost because of his negative batting.
The last time Tendy did something in the context of the game was that match against Australia in sharjah some 25 years ago.

Can you please explain a little to enlighten us, how to play for Team? If you are referring Tendulkar's 100 in loss, you shouldn't be surprised to know, lara is worse than tendulkar in that comparison.
Tendulkar Never made himself unavailable for team selection to protest against the Board's decision of not allowing some Private sponsors' Logo.
