man of the match should always be decided by the winning team captain or coach becz they only know who contributed the most inside the dressing room...instead of commentators who just watch the game without knowing the background...for example things like strategy and planning etc by certain players...could have had a bigger impact than an individual performance..
english people are the most under confident and negative people..there are still 3 games to be played and they are already going bonkers over a loss..infact they played pretty well in both games and could have actually won...
India had many people to thank for the Lords win. Ishant Sharma remained fresh in the memory as his heroics occurred at the threshold of the victory. In fact Ishant bowled below par in the first innings while it was Buvanesh Kumar who was consistent in his performance. Even in the second innings it is he who put pressure on the English batsmen though he went wicketless. Add to that his batting and we have a stellar performance. To add to that was Rahane and Vijay not to forget Jadeja.
Many moments can be noted in this historical win. First major was Rahane's century and a crucial partnership with Bhuvi. Second was Bhuvi's 6 wicket haul, third was Murali Vijay's gritty batting performance. Next great moment was Jadeja's counter attack and a quick partnership with Bhuvi. Finally the most important wicket just before lunch made the collapse of English possible. So, Ishant lived to the expectations and bullied English with their own tactics. The worry for India is form of Dhavan, Kohli and Dhoni plus they need to find proper place for Binny or replace him with Aswin. Overall kudos to Indian team for doing something which was not done in last 28 years.
Swann is trying to create bad feelings amongst the Indian players. A MoM has been named and that should be the end of it.
Secondly what does he mean by “a few of those wickets were simply gifted to him by some really bad shots”? Can he let the world know how many wickets were ‘gifted’ to him during his playing days? Is playing a bad shot – and getting out, at times - not part of the game? The opposition still has to take those catches, Mr Swann!
If India wa allout below 200 in first innigs, then no matter Vijay 95runs or Ishant 7-wkt (both contributed great no doubt) would have no meaning as eng would have leaded almost 140 in first inng. So match turned by Rahane only on very difficult pitch on day 1. Main work done by him , ofcource greatly supported by Vijay,Ishant and not to forget Jadeja and Kumar.
to say Rahane should have been MoM. Even Vijay batted very well for his 95.Sometimes, the stand out performance - the difference can be vary marginal - gets the MoM and it was right to give it to Ishant.
