This guy is keeping wicket, a back-breaking work. Then he goes out and scores every game and he is a captain. The pundits keep blaming without giving him resources.

Except for last 12 months or so, he has been good... one thing should be kept in mind, its a team game, expectation is that as unit it performs, if that doesn't happen many good performances will go unnoticed.

real reason is our middle order bowlers are not taking wickets just happy with stopping runs only as ashwin never looked as wicket taking bowler nor ishant but dhoni is adamant even shikhar and rohit r for indian pitches only , must try new ideas by promoting virat as captain for few matches

Jadeja

I'm not sure why no one is talking about the tied match.

About 8-10 yrs ago in one of the ODIs in England, Yuvraj Singh and Mohd Kaif pulled an unbelievable victory chasing 326 runs. This ODI is still remembered, people often talk about this.

The 3rd ODI against NZ last week is no less feat. There was no way India thought they will win or tie the game. But Jadeja along with Ashwin played unbelievable innings. The fact that Jadeja stood all by himself with the last man speaks about this game came down to the wire.
But Indian team had no celebration or no reaction. Specially Dhoni. he treated Jadeja like a street walking stranger. Doesn't he deserve little bit of respect and some recognition? Even people like Sachin, Dravid etc couldn't have dreamt about finishing the game like Jadeja did. This is really absurd!!!

Another simple truth, wonder how many games in the history has been tied or won with 18 runs to win in last over with 1 wicket in hand?? I don't think there are any. I might be wrong. Does anyone know?

what you are saying is true...it was indeed a fantastic feat...but indian team was not overjoyed because with that tie the chance of winning the series was gone...

so there was not much jubilation from our team...

Your comment is fair enough. But Jadeja and Rohit Sharma (in 4th match) played well only when they were about to loose their place in the side. Now they will be in the side even id their performance is average for next 10 matches. Ishant Sharma is another such player. Nobody can predict when he plays well and when he doesn't.Compare this with likes of Dinesh karhik, Wasim Jafer and Pragyan Ojha. They were given less opportunities, under leeser favorable conditions and they were out of the team the moment they performed poorly in a couple of matches.

That match was not one of ODIs rather final match of Natwest Trophy, which India won & that's why remembered.

Mistake was before and after selection. 1. Wrong team no experience, atleast GAMBHIR, BHAJJI, YUVRAJ MUST for ODI'S. CANT get fooled by Rohits and Rainas, how good they are whole world knows and what they have acjived. 2. After selection dropping Mishra and Binny BIG BLUNDER.. T his is like a dHONIS PET TEAM and not INDIA

Yes Dhoni plays well but selects poor
by peaceman on Jan 29, 2014 11:11 PM  | Hide replies

I am thinking Dhoni is did well in series by giving good personal play,, that is need for team

In same time he is failed by selecting his own people..
1. He is chosen Ishanth Sharma for first three matches..
2. He has kept Suresh Raina for many matches
3. He kept Ashwin for long time in failures too
like this he did few things
He need to know this..

our main weakness is openers. suprised that it is not in ur list! rotating others but retaining the openers will not help anyway. Had Sachin/Gambhir would have opened, we would have not lost this tournament... Sachin is gone but why not Gambhir? If Dhoni is going to retain Rohit any more will cost him badly. Raina made 30/40 runs when he got chance, Ashwin/Jadeja saved a match, Kholi, Dhoni played well but what did our openers do here or in SA series?

Dhoni's body language
by Voosan Raj on Jan 29, 2014 11:03 PM

I don't disagree Dhoni has done wonders and has had quite a bit of accomplishments. He has won world cups, IPL etc. His unique captaincy style was quite intriguing. But lets focus on the current series.

This current series and the last one clearly required a good positive leader. Look at Dhoni's body's language. He doesn't look like a captain on the ground. When things don't go well, he withdraws himself out of the team. It feels he is just hanging around rather than going to individuals, talking to them and encouraging. He can't expect people are going to walk in to the park and do their jobs. If every bowler, every fielder and every batsman did what they were supposed to do, we don't need Dhoni, make a junior player as a captain. A captain, leader has to be ready for all challenges. Sports is not a science. You can't figure everything out off the field and come and expect the plan will be executed 100% on the field. There is going to be ups and downs, when there is a down thats when Captains imagination, creativity etc comes into play. Our man Dhoni seems to have forgotten and he is relying on computer to do his job!!!

Chuck him out soon!!! Hate when non-performers like him walk away as legends in the game
