Arrogance is gambhir and Viru talking about captaincy when not even in form 3 years back. How many bowlers have taken 100 test wickets in 20 tests?

Don't insult Tendulkar. You may say even bhajji, Chawla and Ojha had lean patch.

In order to enjoy that luxury of being in team through lean patch you have to earn it. Either you are tendulkar OR you get through your lean patch by playing Ranji Trophy

Even prasanna was not so successful overseas
Current

1 test match is no lean patch. And ODIs every one is struggling- Dhawan, Rohit, Ishant, Raina, Bhuvi, Rahane and Dhoni. And by the way Dhoni dropped Ash for WC2011 finals- so much for soft corner.

Even the best of cricketers need to be nurtured. Ashwin is a smart player. He has saved India in many tests just by his batting. With too many 'no gooders' talking his best strategy is to put blinders and mute out every noise around him.

We don't care if Ashwin is a Tamil or not. You got old oafs and no gooders talk as if they are semi-Gods. Why would Dhoni or Ashwin pay attention to every loud mouth. He simply put his mind where it belongs and did a good job with his batting and bowling. Don't forget that Aswin and Jadeja were the most economical bowlers from the India side last time.

From the clarification that he has provided on page 1, I guess he means to say that he has been batting down the order and hence his contribution has been one off.

ohhh boy. I think he is under the impression that he is a batsman. Somebody please wake him up....for India's sake.

Whether his standard is high or not, others' are lower. When openers and top order batsmen are outscored by Ashwin and Jadeja, there is reason to believe that his batting is better. Ashwin's bowling too is the best in the Indian side- no use in comparing Kumble etc at this stage!

Maybe someone needs ram the bitter news into his head....
by Arun Kumar on Jan 27, 2014 06:07 PM

if he is going to cocoon himself from reality. Ashwin is a bowler and his primary job is to get wickets. If he is going to get one wicket every 70 odd overs, any frontline batsman who can turn his arm over will be better suited. Am sure we can find a clutchful of batsmen who are better than Ashwin and who can also get a wicket every 70 odd overs....

The only suggestion for you is to brush up your knowledge of game before comparing a less than average bowler with Prasanna. He was not only in India but probably one of the best in the world. It is misfortune of country that we no longer produce such spinners & have to manage with such third grade bowlers who can take wickets only when pitch is tailor made for them

This shows your cricketing knowledge and regional political mind by blindly supporting ashwin and comparing a waste ashwin with best off-spinner prasanna.Dude think as one India not a single state.Ashwin is a burden to Indian team.your remark shows your upbringing.

Statistics are not the best way to judge a person. What good can a few good wicket hauls & scores against a mediocre side like Windies do to the prestige of cricketer?he does not look like a cricketer & should first shed weight by going to gym.

The same logic (that statistics against lower side are useless) can be applied to our paper-tiger batsmen too!

If Ashwin is a burden, then what about Ishant, Rohit, Dhawan, Raina, Rahane, Dhoni, Bhuvi, Yuvi, etc?

There is nothing to be jingoistic about Aswin. He is proving the no gooders wrong. North or South... Ashwn is not a Kapil Dev type gifted athletic allrounder. He is doing his best. That is all that matters. I thorughly enjoyed his six and reverse sweep.

Nandu,.......Nandu Ashwin is Indian first, that is why he is in Indian ODI Team, Dhoni wants him to continue, while Prasanna doesn't want him to play, outside India. so don't use you logic.

your comments in bad shape - do not attack region or religion - unity in diversity. Have some decency and decorum when on board. Ny the way "sambhar" is not that bad in taste, compared to "kadi"
