The Indian team touring NZ looks like the 90's team where one player was focussed on chasing down the targets while the rest fall like 9 pins. High Time Ishant,Raina,Jadeja Ashwin are dropped for non performance. Time to infuse fresh blood with batsmen like Manoj Tiwary,Varun Aaron,Amit Mishra, Stuart Binny,Pragyan Ojha .
Not selcting Sehwag , Gambhir and Yuvraj is ok...but if Zahir is still considerd as India's no 1 test bowler and he is fully fit plus wants to play in ODIs then why not include him ?? And Harbhajan also can be a better option then Ashwin...Infact ZK and Harbhajan should be in the consideration for WC 2015 as both of them cant do worst that Ishant and Ashwin and being last WC for them they may deliver a spirited performance to end their careers on a high note...Dhoni should not forget that more than his captaincy it was the performances of senoirs like Sachin, ZK and Yuvi which were instrumental in India winning WC 2011
I am afraid Dhoni is deluding himself when he says that they have lot of firepower that would see them through with application. True they have lot of firepower but not adequate firepower .with a gaping hole in the middle order making the batting crash with 2-3 wickets falling in a heap once they don't get a good start as happened at Napier. So what we are going to witness is a series of trial and error experiment with playing XI till the end of the series---try Binny for a spinner and replace Ishant with another young pacer and so on. There could be more changes because winning results are not assured given the weakness in the batting and the bench strength. This policy will be exactly opposite to Dhoni’s assertion before start of the series that unlike Greg Chappel’s changes to playing XI there was no room for much experimentation. It must be understood that although the bowling is not the best but they didn’t do all that badly in successfully restricting NZ to below 300 at Napier. Moreover the grounds are small and totals will be mostly around 300.What is urgently needed is a stabilizing solid bat like Pujara in the middle order to stem collapse so that partnership can be built which is not happening now. And is neither likely to happen with the available bench strength in NZ.
Sack Ishant Sharma(BIG NATIONAL WASTE)...our chance of winning matches will increase by 70% even outside india. Penalise by sacking and asking him to play club level cricket people who are responsible even after 100 matches dono how to bowl

Dhoni never gave Manoj Tiwary a chance even after he hit a century.. Rohit just cannot be dropped ... Now Rayudu will never get a chance.
Man..this guys is just fooling many folks around.. who can't tell that those two (three) wickets costed the victory.. I will ask again.. where is Gambhir and Yuvi.. Raina,Rohit & Dhawan are all pretty much useless in foreigh..
Its Ishant who is the culprit for last 2 months but he is still in the team...even in this match his over after 2nd powerplay when he consumed 19 runs gave boost to NZ inning in the final overs...shami was the best bowler and yet he bowled 9...these Dhobi mistakes added at leat 20 to 30 runs in NZ innings and this so called great skiper thinks that lossing 3 wkts was crucial !!!

Lolz, well said Mahesh.. This is a problem with MSD from a long time. Expectations from batsmen have been sky high while everybody seems to have given up on bowling...

could it be, dhoni is using ishant as a handy scapegoat for our losses? it tends to distract our people from batting failures...think about that..

Easier thing would have been to play a better bowler so that target could be smaller :). But I am highly doubtful of Indian bowlers defending even a 300 run target.

In today's era where scores in excess of 300 are easily chasable...you can win a match if 2 or 3 your batsmen out of 6 bats well but if 1 of your main bowler goes for plenty then those extra 20 to 25 runs given by him could cost the match and thats what is happening so we cant afford some1 like Ishant who is never economical...if you check last 5 to 6 Indian defeats its always Ishant whose pathetic bowling has been the main worry...His economy is over 8 in 2 ODIs, over 7 in 2 ODIs and almost 6 in 1 ODI out of last 6 matches which is worst compared to any Indian bowler who played in those matches...

dhoni is worried about his captaincy place than winning the game for india. If he cant manage his bowlers then give the job to someone like kohli.Dhoni want his place secured with the team of his chamchas like rohith,raina,jadeja,vijay..etc intead of some of the legends in the histry of cricket. He was successful in forming syndicate to ouster great players in like sehwag, gambir, harbajan from the team with the help of srini & patil.these players would have played better than this so called youngsters in overseas condition. It looks as if these young players are frightened to face fast bowling with guts like sehwag.India need to bring back sehwag-gambir combination back to get brisk start & entertainment of cricket .
