Dhoni doesn't want him back to the team. After the 4-0 loss from Australia and England, Selector Amarnath wanted to make Gambhir as Captain in the test side as he won the IPL. Every batsman had failed to score in Australia and England but Gambhir is out only because of Dhoni's politics.

I think the selectors should not listen to BCCI bosses at once and select the players as per the requirement. Then definitely Gambhir will be in as a opener.
..on performance, now a days selection is based on how good relation you having with Dhoni...make good relation with Dhoni and you will get selected without good performance....
he is very clever.. he wanted to get in to the team. that is why he hard played in a green pitch... he thot that he may be selected to the team for the toor of NZ.. if he bat well in a green pitch... but my dear gambheer.. your not going to be selected... your a politition.. and you will creat problums.. in side the team.... this team under MS DHONI.. has great unity... we do not want players like you...

there is nothing like he is clever , why yuvi getting selected after bad form but still gambhir did not get any chance after he is out of team, i think he deserve a chance.

That is why they lost heavily, both ODI and Tests. They were lucky that the 1st test was a draw.
He is a good cricketer.. but there is no place for anyone who splits the team for his own benefit. Life has a way of showing these people what it takes to be a unified member of any team/organization etc. The day Gautam realises that then He will make it to the team. Its not about Vijay/Rohit/Ashwin/Jadeja etc.. Look at Jaddu picking up 6 wickets in place of Ashwin.. This team is determined and in good hands.. Gautam really is the third opener like MSD says- he speaks his mind and he is right- to all the MSD bashers- look at his decisions and you will know why he has been the best Captain/leader India has ever produced

Oh, so thats why Raina is not in the test squad. He developed backache kissing Dhonis feet. And what took Rohit so long to get in? Maybe he was wearing wrong lipstick while kissing?? What about non performers like Zaheer and Ishant? And what about Sachin? Was he being carried in the team so long because he was kissing Dhoni's feet? Extending these arguments, next i suppose even Sir Chirag can get into the team by kissing Dhoni's feet...
