Captain and Coach should motivate and inspire the team.
by boddeda kumar on Feb 20, 2014 01:18 PM  | Hide replies

Got Newzealand bowled out for 192 in 1st innings &in 2nd Innings 680/8(from 94/5).Why the sudden change in performance. It's just because of overconfidence and lack of balanced attitude.I don't think it is with technique or ability.Being cool when everyone is performing well is a good thing but not always. We need a captain who motivates and inspires total team.Probably Virat Kohli can do it if he is encouraged to do so.

Then can motivate and inspire the players and bring confidence in them as Sourav Ganguly used to do it.

I request everyone to introspect and make a comment. Why we are not winning matches abroad.Generally Indians show defensive attitude when they deal with foreigners. When we play with shivering attitude, how can we expext to give good performance. When Ganguly was the Captain(I don't know about Pataudi),he tried hard to remove that attitude. That'swhy we could perform better overseas. After Dhoni came in,slowly we lost that gutsy and aggressive attitude.Virat Kohli is performing better in overseas and during chasing just because of that gutsy and aggressive attitude. We need captain who motivates self and teammates to bring full confidence and fighting spirit in the team.Otherwise whatever may be the talent and technique we continue to loose overseas. Whitewash in England and Australia, series loss in South Africa and Newzealnd. Can we have worse than this.

Habit of Ex players
by Tuhin Ganguly on Feb 20, 2014 12:57 PM  | Hide replies

It is the habit of ex players to criticize Dhoni as and when India lose test match overseas.Dhoni cannot win a match by his captaincy only. His performence is not a disaster like ex captains. How Mohinder always after Dhoni? who will replace Dhoni? We are loosing matches due to inablity of either bowlers or batsman in the crucial situation. If Dhoni is given a bowler like stain or Mitchel he also can win the tests. This the best available team of India certainly New Zealand played better than us as always. What was the stats of Mohinder in his playing days? We should not criticize blindly. Dhoni is the best captain produced by India who also can play good cricket in a crucial condition. He is the example of all juniors.Earlier every captains failed in crucial condition except one or two.

Hello, please Dhoni had Ishwar Pandey (fast bowler - Good Ranji Season), Binny (Good All rounder, showed while playing for RR), Rayadu (good consistent domestic performer - can handle short stuff too as seen in IPL), A Mishra (highest wkts but Indian in IPL, 2nd to Malinga, 18 wkts in 5 match series highest by any player in 5 mth series)but who does he pick for over an year Raina, Jadeja, Ashwin (mostly wicketless and run less)

So Ishwar will play and Zaheer will drop, Binny in place of Jadeja,Rayadu in place of Pujara & Amit Mishra in place of Shammi and India will win all test. You should replace a selecter also.

Players are able to perform at crutial conditions because with the advent of IPL where often we need to play tight games not because of dhoni, get your analysis right!!!!!!!!
We need to critisize dhoni because he always picks wrong team in wrong conditions like picking up 3 spinners in AUSTRALIA CB series, playing with 2 spinners in seamins conditions, playing his chamchs by sidelining the talented players.
As captain you need to make environment conductive to handle senior players egos thats part and parcel of the game.

Pujara came in place of Raina, Ashwin were dropped then also we lost. Team selection is made by captain as well as coach with the available resourses. Dhoni alone can not impose his choice.15 members team selected by selecters if Dhoni's chamchas are selected
What he can do?

aggressiveness??
by Sam Alexander on Feb 20, 2014 12:02 PM  | Hide replies

If a captain shows aggressiveness the critics in no time says his aggressive nature has to tone down in test matches. If he is patient and loses a game the critics say the above verdict. These gavaskers and gangulys who thrive on such brutal criticism of current captains were never above board during their captaincy stints.Shameless folks they are!!!

Dhoni
by Sudhakaran Nair on Feb 20, 2014 11:39 AM  | Hide replies

Dhoni cannot win the match alone. First of all we have quality bowler who can take wicket regularly. Give him good openers who can atleast stay in creese for first 50/70 overs. Without these things no captain can win the match. Presently Dhoni is doing well he has won 2011 world cup.

100% agree about drunken bleacher. When India wins, he is in the limelight about how tough a taskmaster he is. Where is he hiding now allowing the captain and other players to share the blame?

When Indian team with stalwarts like SRT,RD,VVS,GG,VS etc can get white washed in Eng & Aust, in the present team most of them have played less than 10 tests. So, India's performance is not bad at all. At least they have fought and lost bcas of missing a few chances.

SRT, RD, VVS & Sehwag had easily grown old which was very visible with their reflexes and footwork. We cant relate it to the present lot who have beaten Australia on the dustbowls (with almost zero support from SRT also, which makes it 10 guys) :)

from India's case you will know ranking is all nonsense. India got that rank by playing and winning at home.

Try telling this to SV :)

Also, looking at the dropped catches, the fielders are supposed to be world class and not old men like SRT/RD/VVS/VS.

Also, lack lusture bowling and field setting is not dependent on any batsmen. India needs bowlers who can take 20 wickets in a good way.
