THE CONTRASTING TALES OF TWO CAPTAINS
by damodaran mohan on Feb 21, 2014 05:17 PM

This series will be remembered more for the diametrically opposite effects to the extent of becoming turning points on the cricketing careers of the two captains-- Mccllum and Dhoni. Suddenly McCllum has become the toast of the nation and has joined the elite club of the ranks of Kiwi greats like Martin Crowe with his record triple century. For a batsman who was known more for his slang bang type of cricket in shorter version of game the turn around getting headlines like “…birth of a nation…”in media is simply unbelievable and was never expected. NZ were the eternal underdogs rarely in level with countries like WI,Aus,Eng,Ind,Pak,SA etc. However in this series Mccllum’s phoenix like rise has enabled NZ to crush India both in one dayers and in Tests enabling the kiwis climb up the ladder to join the top teams. In contrast Indian side look work in progress with Dhoni the Captain cool looking overworked and tired even missing the Asia cup too! Further he seems to have lost the magic touch and the dynamism he is known for which made him one of the best captains in the world! More damning is the way his name is being tossed around and speculated openly in the media in match fixing investigations. Thus an environment of uncertainties surround the name of Indian captain giving rise to apprehensions on future course of Indian cricket.

wellington pitch seems to be like butter, runs were flowing from the bat, Dhawan and Kholi deliberltly drop catches to gain some leads to score 100 in 2nd innings with dreaming victory, howver Kholi succeeds with 137 not out.
