indian test team

strange and inexplicable how murali vijay continues in the team. as they say, you score a half century and you are safe for the next 15-20 tests. Forget his batting, with his butter fingers he should not be in the team for his fielding also. anyone, even gambhir will be a better replacement for him. but then the bcci is not answerable to anyone and we all know the real reasons.

dhoni appraisal
by anand Swaminathan on Feb 19, 2014 12:28 PM

My assessmeent is that Indian bowlers should try to bowl a lot of made-in overs. Atleast one end we should bowl one end very tight. Then automatically the batsman would go for runs other bowlers. He will fetch a lot of wickets. At the end of match, Mr. Dhoni should appreciate the bowler who bowled made-in overs and who took wickets
Secondly, like McCllum, Dhoni should handover the gloves to Karthik and he should feild in Mid-on or Mid-off like all other captains. This will give bowlers a very much fear and they try to bowl a decent line.

Last but not least atleast two of our fast bowlers should bowl between 139-142 KMS in overseas then only you can imagine for win.

Thought process of indian team
by vijendra bahuguna on Feb 19, 2014 12:23 PM

Indian team’s thought process for Test matches is totally wrong. No doubt Dhoni is BADashah of 50 over’s match but he failed to deliver as a captain in test matches because he treats test matches as 50 over’s match. It is right time now to appoint separate captains for both version of the game. Dhoni should be given 50 over command however Kohali for test matches.

Biased
by Govind Raj Shenoy on Feb 19, 2014 11:56 AM  | Hide replies

Murali Vijay had a very decent tour of South Africa, where he blunted the Steyn and Morkel attack in every innings he played there, even though he didn't score big. We all know these tests were just before this series.

Shikhar Dhawan had failed miserably in South Africa but he was given 3/10 while Vijay was given 5/10.

Here Vijay gets 0/10 and Dhawan 7/10 and even Vijay's place in the side is questioned.

Strange but Vijay has over 680 runs in last 9 tests he has played with 2 centuries and 2 fifties with average of 48.

Do we need to stress who is biased here ?

I completely agree with Govind. After Viru and Gauti dismisal performance atleast in 15 tests and 15 ODI, they have been shown doors. Murali Vijay had a very good outing in SA and bad phase in NZ. Please give him some more chances and assesnment. This is biased report.

The difference between the success of performance of Murali vijay in SA and Dhawan in NZ was that the latter is match winning or saving while the formaer is just addition on the total

In both tours, there was one drawn test and one lost test. How could Dhawan be playing for a win or draw, while Vijay was doing the opposite?!!

I said that In First test Murali Vijay's contribution is just to add to the total (negligible) while kohli and pujara did majority of them. With out his contribution there would not be much difference. In second test Dhawan along with kohli and rahana contributed the major part of the indian innings as in the absence of his performance Indias condition would have been terrible. Dhawan's performance was like typical sehwag inning (match winning although there is not one drawn and one lost match)but as a team india could not capitalize over that.
I am not a south indian and not saying about any region bias. I am saying my own views.

Kohli?????
by Sudip Datta on Feb 19, 2014 10:30 AM  | Hide replies

The guy was solely responsible for India's failure to wrap up the second test (he missed a dolly).
And then survived a clear caught-behind to score a hundred.

And he gets 8 out of 10????

Vijay dropped a dolly in 1st Test, it could have been 78/4 instead of 250/4 in 1st innings. Such things are part and parcel of the game tht should stop u from winning

Is Vijay only player to drop catch. He is by far a better fielder. Hardly dropped a catch before this series. Did Rohit or dhoni or Kohli or Ishant did not drop any catch in this series. Why not talk about that. You guys conveniently forget those.

blame the IPL
by Yati Panwar on Feb 19, 2014 09:15 AM

the lack of good bowlers is clearly due to the IPL where bowlers are treated like trash - while on the ground or even during the auctions where they go for peanuts - pitches are batsmen friendly and when our much touted batsmen fail defeats are assured - i fail to understand where a captain comes in all this !

Problem very clear
by Narayanan Mahalingam on Feb 19, 2014 08:43 AM

The report card clearly shows the clear. No bowlers worth of note.
The BCCI is not making efforts to nurture bowlers spurred by its madness to boost its bank balance.

by Yati Panwar on Feb 19, 2014 07:28 AM  | Hide replies

the article is clearly biased against some players. why has Dhoni's contribution with the bat been ignored ? i thought he did wonderfully - as for captaincy, how do you blame him if some top players do not perform with the bat and bowlers are washouts ? Ishant went wicketless and you award him 7 out of 10 - weird logic indeed !

captaincy doesnt mean winning toss, it means field placement and picking playrs like Gambhir, A Mishra etc who can score runs and pick wkts instead of Vijay, Jadeja just for namesake
