no 2 ranking

aus lost 4-0 to an indian side ranked higher.aus lost 3-0 on a 5 test series to england ranked higher.their points in the ranking do not come down drastically bcos they have lost to side ranked higher than them.whereas india lost a complete white wash 4-0 to aus(ranked lower them again) and england on a 4 test series and agnst nz(ranked lower them again) which makes the points come dwn drastically in the ranking system and again agnst sa 1-0 on a 2 test series further droping dwn little bit on the ranking system and secondly india have lost 11 test series at a trot more than australia.1 whitewash against aus and nz ranked lower than them.aus have lost only 8 tests at a trot tht too against a higher ranked team like india and england.but their performance were excelllent in whitewashing england 5-0 agnst a team ranked higher than them and also continuing it agnst sa the no1 side.so if they manage to win the series agnst sa they deft wd deserve the no 2 ranking

if u see the performance of both aus and india in the last 6 or 7 months right from indian tour of england.handing over of defeats for the indian team have been pretty bad than the aus as we have lost to sides ranked lower than us.

india lost to england 4-0(nt sure if eng or india were the no 1 at tht time.i guess eng)

india lost to aus 4-0 a lower ranked side

aus lost 4-0 to india a team ranked higher than them

aus lost 3-0 to england (a team ranked higher than them) on a 5 test rubber bt nt getting drubbed completely.
india lost to sa 1-0

aus drubbed eng 5-0(a team ranked higher than them) which made them jump frm 5th to 3rd spot, though they may not be the same as they used to be,bt still drubbing a team higher than them is nt an easy task.
india lost to nz 1-0 agnst a no 8 side side again.

aus are leading 1-0 agnst sa during the the 3 test match series.if they manage to pull it off then deft it wd be a resounding test series victory against the no 1 side.

so if u see it was we under dhoni failed to stamp our authority as the no 2 side by faltering agnst nz by losing many points.had we stamped our authority as the no 2 side by defeating nz comfortably atleast they wd have gained a few points rather than waiting for the aus and sa to decide.if aus r able to do it than they deserve the no 2 ranking

ICC ranking not logical
by Radhakrishnan Vokkarane on Feb 18, 2014 01:51 PM  | Hide replies

I do not understand a team which has lost 10 times in 12 outside is ranked higher than the team which has won 6 matches in a stretch. I think calculation error

Shame!

To have ZERO victories against a 7th or 8th ranked team is as shameful as a whitewash.
