It is still a better performance put by our new team...if we had older generation players we would lost more easily and more badly...

we saw how experienced players like sachin dravid laxman sehwag gambhir bhajji zaheer played in aus and eng...we were whitewashed because of them....8 out 8 away losses with such experienced side....are these players worth calling back??

even when the above players had come in nz under ganguly we were whitewashed 0-2 in tests...

on other hand take the new generation team ...they put on a much better show than these older ''legends'' ....many played abroad tests first time in their life...except for dhoni and zaheer very few had played away tests if any....

against SA in SA the no 1 ranked team we lost 1 test...we were not whitewashed...we even came close to winning 1 test....even against nz even after falling behind by 300 runs in first innings we fought back tremendously well to bundle them up in their second innings and nearly chased the 400 target....

so who do you think performed better the experience team in aus and eng or the first timers in away tests in sa and nz??

let me tell you it is sa who should be ashamed by not winning the test series 2-0 because they are officially no 1 side they are playing at their home and their specialist batsmen like smith kallis amla ABD all have played MORE tests INDIVIDUALLY than the no. of test matches vijay pujara kohli rahane rohit dhawan PUT TOGETHER...

last time in nz under ganguly captaincy we had our all best players the legends still we lost...we were whitewashed 0-2...and compare this new side which has only 1 abroad test experience in SA ..even after falling behind by 300 runs what a fight they put up! and players like shami ashwin jadeja were bowling first time in away tests...

RAINA
by vinay on Feb 11, 2014 10:44 PM  | Hide replies

agreed raina is not performing with the bat. n needs to b dropped. but y there is different yardsticks for players.

consider the case that raina comes into bat in 5th or 6th position n gets no time to settle n play. what abt failures of players coming into bat at no.1 or 2. top order gets more chances still fails. but retains places due to dhobi's closeness. whereas players (not necessarily raina) not getting proper time to play in lower middle order gets axed.

same here... it was nohit who played very slow in the initial overs chasing in all the matches.. in first 10 overs india scored 30 -35 runs thus puttin pressure on rest of batsman... by the time raina came the asking rate was 9 or 10 for which he had to go for big shots

MS DHONI bats at 6 and 7. then he is the highest run getter in southafrica in 2013 and seccont runs getter in NZL. raina is not scoring runs that is why he hasbeen removed. I am a big fan of raina I admit that he has not played when ever he was required to play.[in sa and nzl]

wrong selection
by Sharanu on Feb 11, 2014 08:34 PM  | Hide replies

the team selected is completely wrong and there was no need to drop Raina... Raina is far better than the Rs rohiti, rahani, raiudi
also selection of that Ktaka Binny doesnt make any sense at all. he had been utter failure in NZ tour.. also Pujari is a test player and doesnt fit in ODI squad.. L balaji should have been selected as he was leading wicket taker in last T20 World cup.

Stuart Binny was given opportunity to bowl a single over.Nothing with a Bat.that too only in one match.Pl don't judge like this.

binny was a case of dhobi's bias against player other than his pets. so dhobi vl not allow binny to settle.
