It is still a better performance put by our new team...if we had older generation players we would lost more easily and more badly...

we saw how experienced players like sachin dravid laxman sehwag gambhir bhajji zaheer played in aus and eng...we were whitewashed because of them....8 out 8 away losses with such experienced side....are these players worth calling back??

even when the above players had come in nz under ganguly we were whitewashed 0-2 in tests...

on other hand take the new generation team ...they put on a much better show than these older ''legends'' ....many played abroad tests first time in their life...except for dhoni and zaheer very few had played away tests if any....

against SA in SA the no 1 ranked team we lost 1 test...we were not whitewashed...we even came close to winning 1 test....even against nz even after falling behind by 300 runs in first innings we fought back tremendously well to bundle them up in their second innings and nearly chased the 400 target....

so who do you think performed better the experience team in aus and eng or the first timers in away tests in sa and nz??

let me tell you it is sa who should be ashamed by not winning the test series 2-0 because they are officially no 1 side they are playing at their home and their specialist batsmen like smith kallis amla ABD all have played MORE tests INDIVIDUALLY than the no. of test matches vijay pujara kohli rahane rohit dhawan PUT TOGETHER...

last time in nz under ganguly captaincy we had our all best players the legends still we lost...we were whitewashed 0-2...and compare this new side which has only 1 abroad test experience in SA ..even after falling behind by 300 runs what a fight they put up! and players like shami ashwin jadeja were bowling first time in away tests...

Dhoni made wrong decision hence India lost first rank.He win the toss at south Africa and Newzeland but he asked them bat first. This is his mistake.

Like it or not, M.S.Dhoni is greatest captain we ever had
by Gurjot Singh on Feb 11, 2014 05:19 AM  | Hide replies

He has taken India to the hill top in all forms of cricket. India will stumble once in a while but just see how we pick up the pieces. we were written off after England and Australia tour. How spectacularly we came back! So let us count our blessings and appreciate Dhoni while he is around.

you are so true. we were written off after england and australian tours. how spectacularly we came back on flat pitches! first instance of scams in indian cricket resulted in fixing victory of champions trophy. what followed on overseas tours we saw in nz and sa. let us appreciate dhoni even more to show our blind faith in rogues.

The pitch was flat for both teams. It just proves our batting prowess. Also, give credit to Dhoni's team for the way they almost won the test.

DHONI HAS TO GET HIS TEST BASICS RIGHT--II
by damodaran mohan on Feb 10, 2014 07:40 PM

(contd.)It needs some serious application—taking ones & twos, rotating strikes, waiting for loose deliveries…. staying on the wicket and so on. They just can’t hit themselves out of difficult situation in Test matches as Dhoni and Jadeja attempted through a CSK style assault as they do in IPL! It was apparent both had given up the hope as they were not sure of their abilities as Test players and decided to gamble away in T20 mode! Shouldn’t they have aimed for lasting not just the 4th day but the 5th day too instead ? Result could have been still the same but at least they would not be guilty of setting a bad precedent of an approach making a sham of a Test match! Should not Dhoni learn from the big hitting Brendon Mccllum, the way he applied himself in the 1st innings after losing 3 quick wickets only to pile up over 500 runs which ultimately proved decisive ?

Although India lost but it was heartening to see them put up a good fight which does give hope for a revival provided the side, more so the captain is ready to learn from mistakes. First, Toss advantage is lost! Then they get a reprieve when the Kiwis do not enforce follow-on. Next, the bowlers do a brilliant job to skittle out the kiwis to just over 100runs but still India fail to capitalize because chasing down over 400 runs in last innings is not all that easy for even the best sides! Consequently yet another loss, the 10th on the trot to be precise ! So near but so far story repeats yet again with Dhawan’s century too going in vain ! In fact Dhoni must thank the umpires that they gave him some face savers. Without these excuses it would have been hard pressed for Dhoni to explain away his top Test side losing to a lowly Kiwis. Bad U-decisions, dropped catches etc are part and parcel of cricket affecting both teams and generally even out in 4 innings of a Test match. Rather Dhoni must understand the basics that a Test match has to be played and won in the classical Test mold.

Dhoni ka Goni bhar gaya
by KRISHNA CHAITANYA on Feb 10, 2014 04:12 PM

He is just an over over over rated guy. He does not have technique nor does he play well. He comes down the order every time. Why does he ball first even if we win? Let me tell you..he plays down the order. If the upper order has played enough runs and just a few runs are to be scored to win..with fall of wickets he comes down and score it and boom is the player who won the match for india with the old ball. And if the score is not achieved by him then he blames the upper order and says they need to play sensible. What happened in the world cup final. Gauti and others took the Srilankan team apart and got it to stage where he came in and got it. He also kept the strike to him and stay put Yuvraj at the other end. He is backed up with a huge support and handfull of money. What does he need.

Please remove him from close catching position.

Near to Win
by shaik ahmed on Feb 10, 2014 03:57 PM

As most matches in NZ were near to win but India with smart captain like Dhoni should have pulled back by this time.In my opinion some cracks started in the unity of team.As BCCI invested heavily(Time & Money) on the present players Smart & Master captain should visualize what could be the best 11 for WC-15 If India need to retain its World Cup!!
I think one of experienced opener(Sehwag/Gambhir)should be included for WC-15 team.
