this is Rahul Gandhi's idea. Sachin is legend but I believe he should get Padma Vibhushan most. but giving Bharat Ratna is like overpraising his achievements. the award should be given to people who has done outstanding contribution for the welfare of society. he scored 100 centuries in 700 international matches. why we think this is extraordinary performance? this is just overrated. we like Sachin but bharat ratna is too much for little master.
if Anand has not played chess.. then india never had a world champion in chess in any category... we never had won asian games gold medal and other international medals in chess.. we never got a chance to organise world championship.. chess won't become part of curriculum... we wont have highest no. of rated chess player in the world.. we wont have dozens of gms in india.... but, if sachin had not played cricket.. still we have won as many world cup as we have today.. still corporates would be looting public money in the name of IPL.. we might have won few lesser matches...
did he paid his water bill....I read in news paper sachin don't have money to pay his water bill poor fellow, now after this award he can pay that bill...
First congratulation for Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar who truely deserves the honour by all means. Considering his field of cricket or sports none did achieve what Mr.SRT achieved. He became the global ambassador of cricket not officially but with his on way of playing the game.Many states Dhyanchand and Vishy deserves Bharat Ratna, what they states is absolutely true, they are legendary sportspersons. But both of them never ever globalized their game like SRT. How many used to watch Vishy playing chess. With 8 Olympics medals in hockey what is the present condition of Indian Hockey. Can't even compete with teams in Asia.May be many say BCCI have got money where did that money came from, answer is Huge fan following cricket.Why in a country with Nation game as hockey have more fan than the same. Sachin tendulkar told he took cricket as his profession because he was inspired by 1983 world cup win. But India never won it for next 28 year which is to be noted as SRT era. But Team India emerged to one of the most powerful administrator in ICC from 1975 a team which collected money for their expense by conducting orchestra all over India to attend world cup. The fans of SRT have the major share in profit achieved by BCCI. Simply because there was a period for team india where fans never cared about lose of team but cant never acccept the lose of SRT'S wicket. This achievement to grow above the game or the team made SRT for highest civilian honour....salutes

for ur question, how many watch Vishy playing chess.. as per the reports, between 100 and 200 million have followed the match anand carlsen on tv every-day during the world championship few months back.. if popularity is the criteria for BR then Sunny leone or Sharuk khan deserves BR not Vishy..

cricket is played mostly by weak and corrupt sporting nations like india, pakistan, sri-lanka, bangladesh.. crcket is played seriously in less than a dozen countries.. it lacks competition.. thats why not yet qualified for Olympic status..

Mr attacker I don't say Vishy doesn't deserve Bharat Ratna but sachin too deserves and the difference SRT made to the game as an individual to team sport.
Now he has to spell out his plan to bring smiles on every Indian Will he move about like a retired cricketer shunning the perquisites of the title Meeting the common man everyday and speak for them and work for tham
Sachin Tendulkar has been a great sportsman and made India proud on numerous occasions..
But, Bharat Ratna carries immense value and prestige and only towering personalities who worked for the welfare of the society at large are bestowed with the award..
Sadly, the decorum of the award has NOT been maintained..
