The opening sentence of this article is incorrect. His last pre-World War II Test was in 1938; the first post-WWII Test being in 1946. He lost 8 years of Test cricket at the peak of his career, between the age of 30 and 38. If only he hadn't lost those years, ALL his records would have been forever beyond the reach of every one.
