KRIKET ?
by Altu Faltu on Aug 23, 2014 01:02 PM

I have seen Virat Kohli on a T.V. ad. Her mother claims that this guy is having back pain after each match. What do you expect from such a person in the team ?

allow any player to play either test or one day or t 20 not all 3 formats of cricket at a time it is clear IPL has devided team in 8 different teams that is why no synchronization took place and no partnership say max 49 run opening

In the IPL many foreign players are also playing - are they not performing? There are more advantages than disadvantage playing in IPL.

Coaches are the problem
by Varadarajan Ravindran on Aug 20, 2014 04:30 AM  | Hide replies

The coaches employed by India like Duncan Fletcher and his associates are the problem. They do not teaching the batsman how to adjust their foot-work and back-lift besides shot selection and timing. They do not teach pace bowlers the art of bouncing and reverse swinging, andbesides adjusting their length and extent of swing; they do not teach spinners the art of flight with pace off the wicket. Furthermore, they do not teach the pace bowlers that line and length cannot get wickets without pace and swing. They do not teach the captain and other players the art of field setting, and bowling to the field based on the batsman's strongest strokes. In English wickets, the batsman must learn to play the ball late, or else he would be consumed by the swing. Duncan Fletcher coached poorly in these areas, and appeared not to be concerned about anything. he should have been sacked after the disastrous 4-0 defeats in England and Australia. The Indian team under Sourabh Ganguly played very well when they were coached by John Wright and Gary Kirsten. Robert Simpson and Greg Chappell were miserable failures.

Indian Cricket Conditions
by Girish K on Aug 20, 2014 01:12 AM

The form of cricket that is played in Indian conditions is.... ugly (for want of a better word). It is heavily skewed in favor of batsmen. Even a farmer can come and bat and, I won't be surprised if he scores a hundred.

Hope to see Indians take up baseball. Start with Little League.

You are very right sir, when the dhoni is playing exclusive politics in team selection, they are not selecting the SC and ST players, we must take up this issue through our great leader mayawati ge. I hope you will join us to march against the injustice, there has to be reservation based selection.

Which fool said so?

India is dominated at home too. From ages, we've had foreign rule domination. & then recently, we have had alien remote controls dominate us.

Reasons aplenty
by Krish on Aug 19, 2014 11:26 PM  | Hide replies

Weakness abroad is a traditional weakness only masked by an occasional genius of Kapil/ Sachin or studious method of Gavaskar/ Dravid. Here are some reasons
1. Lack of Ranji/ Deodhar kind of long version play: Most current players haven't played long innings even at local level recently
2. IPL does affect but how come a Macallum can go back to NZ and play double hundreds or what about other players from AUs, WI, NZ, SL, etc?
3. County cricket and India A team/ under 19 tours should be increased in frequency
4. Prematurely awarding batting genius titles to Kohli, Pujara etc. These guys haven't even started their careers in the real sense. Kohli can't even match Sachin's record in ODIs abroad, let alone tests. So let the public be realistic
5. Coaches and support staff have to be made answerable instead of giving long term contracts. Annual performance based incentives should be in place instead.
6. Lack of general encouragement to bowlers. Typically Indian bowlers are given stepmotherly treatment and shunted around compared to batsmen who get 4 times as much chances. Ashwin's case clearly illustrates that. Even Shami and Bhuvi have potential if handled appropriately.
7. No point in going back to over the hill players like Sehwag, Gambhir etc. In any case Gambhir has never shone abroad that too in tests.
8. Preponderance of Delhi based players suggest bias in team selection. How come current Ranji champions- Karnataka have only one fringe player?

The fringe player has the connections to get to the Indian team, the rest do not - that explains why only one player from the champion team is there.

Its wrong to say that India is domoinant at home...It should said that India was dominant at home..We are dominant at home only againest low class teams...2012 england series at home which followed by ODI series againest Paskistan showed our inability to play quality spin and swing bowling even at home...even if south africa or sri lanka come here today, they will surely beat us...we are dominant only in T20...
