DHONI'S SUCCESSFUL TINA FACTOR !
by damodaran mohan on Aug 20, 2014 02:04 PM

(contd.)To that extent Dhoni indeed deserves all praise as a smart cricketer who showed character . However his contribution was limited to just those few innings and hardly done justice to the side as the captain. In fact his tactics and moves let down the side.Even W/keeping was atrocious while those gutsy mostly Ist innings made him look to play for himself while leaving the side into lurch not much caring if the team won or lost through his ‘cranky’ captaincy tactics and moves that included illogical playing XIs!The way he allowed drift in bowling and fielding for the English to take big leads that put pressure on the Indian batting was simply annoYing and puzzling! True Dhoni could not be blamed for the batting failure of his colleagues but as a captain he certainly owes some responsibility to motivate etc. In one stroke Dhoni bests his competing Captainship rivals like Gambhir, Virat Kohli etc successfully making a TINA factor emerge as his biggest saviour! No wonder with help from likes of Gavaskar Dhoni gets not just scot free but even glorified even while the rest of the team and his senior colleagues are riled for the horrendous show !

ENTIRE CRICKETING FRATERNITY LOOKS UPTO GAVASKAR
by damodaran mohan on Aug 20, 2014 01:52 PM

Sunil Gavaskar is a cricket legend and everyone looks upto him whenever such debacle occurs ,especially on technical inputs. However given that he normally plays ‘safe’ for obvious reasons his suggestions mostly come after damage is done. Moreover he will rarely name individuals and pre-match advice will be more of general nature---strengthen bowling, improve batting, fielding etct etc.He himself admits that once team is selected he would like to back the selectors rather than criticize. While no one wants a criticism for sake of criticizing but people like Gavaskar miss the opportunity to correct wrong things in Indian cricket even when favoritism, nepotism is perceived in selection or in not raising issues objectively that could harm India cricket. Specifically, very few will agree with his view to NDTV that Dhoni led from front in the Test series in England. True Dhoni with even lack of proper technique showed tremendous courage and played couple of gritty innings even while his top guns equipped with much better techniques failed miserably to face the hostile bowling and local English conditions!

You did the same too Sunny....

It's the same Gavaskar who under Venkat's captaincy helped India score a `much respectable' 42 all out to help Venkat being dropped after the series. `wish, Venkat writes a book on his cricketing career and brings to light all those bitter facts....

GREAT GAVASKAR, PLEASE DON'T EXPECT ETHICS IN CRICKET IN INDIA
by subrata banerjee on Aug 19, 2014 02:54 PM  | Hide replies

Being an all time great batsman Gavaskar can search for ethics in cricket, which is unfortunately totally absent in Indian cricket at present. Now only ethic is to please SRINI and his most own man DHONI. If it continues further it is certain that Indian team has been waiting more bad results in the days to come.

it would be of great help if Gavaskar can talk to Anushka Sharma.

indian teams performance
by chetan dogra on Aug 19, 2014 02:51 PM

looks like the indian cricket team has forgotten the fundamentals - how to bat , how to bowl , how to field along with lack of leadership skills . Add to that the questionable selections - where favouritism takes precedence over performance - and we have a complete recipe for disasteer - which unfolded on the cricket field. There is something seriously wrong when the team cannot last 90 overs over 2 innings consistently.

System overhaul
by Kunal Dar on Aug 19, 2014 02:34 PM  | Hide replies

I believe a lot of ppl are feeling disappointed with Team India's performance and are venting out their ire quite appropriately. One needs to delve deeper to decipher what exactly is ailing our test cricket team.
1) BCCI's priorities towards test cricket is not robust.
2) Domestic cricket is not competitive eg Yuvraj came back from his cancer treatment and managed to score a double hundred and has been a perennial failure in test cricket.WHY?????
3)Lack of good friendly bowling wickets(pacers & batters) to hone the skills.
4) If IPL can be banned ,verygood. If not, then the time duration to be curtailed to 14 days.No point making every team play each other and drag it for a month.
5) Inculcation of national pride amongst junior players from U-14 levels.
6) Junior level tours(U-19 & India A) to be increased to get international exposure.
I'm sure ppl can add onto this list ,but if the above issues are seriously adhered to i'm quite optimistic that India will become a competitive test team when it travels abroad.

Yes, I agree with ur suggestions. Unless BCCI restrict the one-dayers and T20 cricket events, our players will never come upto the Test level, take it from me. For the simple reason, 99% of our players, get pots of money, plenty of publicity with a lot of glamour attached to thse tamasha cricket. BCCI, corporate people and the print and electronic media is responsible for all this mess.

Indian Team's habit
by Tuhin Ganguly on Aug 19, 2014 02:05 PM

India team did the same thing in the past under Gavaskar's Captaincy. All out 42 we still cannot forget.Even dropping of Kapildev for unknown reason. In england it will happen in future also. But certainly some player,s current form & commitments should not have been tolerated. Virat Kohli is the first instances.
