Gambhir hasn't scored a 100 since 2009 and hung around as passenger until 2012 when he was dropped. Infact Gambhir has never succeeded abroad and with age not on his side he doesn't need to comeback. Since Dhawan is out of form, Naman Ojha could be asked to open. Bhuvi is the only bowler who can take wickets, and Ashwin should be brought in late (better late than never). Pankaj Singh might retain place as Dhoni likes him.
If the choice is between Dhawan and Gambhir - dhawan is better off. Gambhir is in the same mould and always opens the face of bat. Both of them are walking wicket. Dhawan's natural game is to score square and in front of square of wicket. Whereas Gambhir's game naturally is to score more runs behind square of wicket. Hence, likely to open the face of wicket and get caught in 3rd slip - Gully. I would say get a new opener, but for this tour exhaust all options with Dhawan in next two match. If he doesnt learn, he cannot complain atleast

True -Gambhir has never succeeded in Eng. He has been out of form in tests for last 5 years of which he wasn't in team for only 1 &1/2 years. Dhawan is a long term prospect. If not ask Naman Ojha to open.

Yeah - the guy who scored 82 and 50 in last 3 matches need to be dropped :) No respect for stats and form. When did Dhoni say he was supreme technician. He scores runs thats what matters
