A TRANSITORY AND REPETIVE PHASE OF A RICH COSY CLUB
by damodaran mohan on Sep 26, 2013 05:31 PM

Modi's life ban and what is happening in and around the BCCI is representative of a larger Indian political culture of the country. As things are happening around a small cosy club things are looking magnified but are primarily different only in degree and not in kind. The way the cosy club of 30 odd privileged BCCI members jealously guard each others' interest are not much different from the 5000 odd ruling class members who lose no time to unite to guard their interest as seen when they oppose the SC ruling to weed out criminal elements. There are no permanent friends or enemies in BCCI and wheel would keep turning with poles changing as often as it happens in politics. So given this background taking sides between Modi and Srinivasan doesn't make much sense.Even jaggu dada was expelled by BCCI but nothing much else happened and he came back. Why ? Similarly the expulsion of Modi is necessarily a transitory phase as Modi could not have done all that for which he has been punished all alone on his own w/o culpability of others in the BCCI. So punishing any one beyond the customary expulsion is simply unthinkable because all are sailing in the same boat. Media report suggest Praful Patel, a close confidant of Sharad Pawar spoke to Lalit Modi.It is not difficult to guess what they would have talked. Coming back to larger Indian polity, but for increased awareness and middle class activism our political class left to themselves would like to function like BCCI.Any doubts?

I am responsible from Srinivasans vices - Lalit Modi
by P S SHAH on Sep 25, 2013 09:21 AM

Both of them have made a lots of money out of IPL. Srinivasan always think that with his money power he can do away with anything he want. When poor junior cricketers are penalised why not him and his son in law ? Lalit Modi is the beggest coward who has ran away from the country to avoid facing probe against him and he has no right to say anything from London where he is hiding unless he come to India and the media should not give any undue importance to such coward person. Why can Cticket administration be given to the past cricketers instead of the people and politicians who has not played any cricket or know how to hold cricket bat properly to play with the future of Indian cricket and criketers ?

Modi has done a lot for pomoting world cricket through IPL and Srinivasan has promoted cricket in South India. Both have done a wonderful job and should be retained for Indian cricket's sake.

I am responsible for Srinivasan's vices, says Modi

Together, with Srinis companionship, Modi brought shame on Indian Cricket; and that's modi or srini or all such big fishes did to our country's name! None should be spared; they deserve stringent punishment: life term imprisonmen: if not capital punishment for treason! Modi's admission of mistake is not sufficient, his entrenching role is more grievous ; so too Srini's, due to which the whole country could not yet raise its head; while these cricket-world-ruffians are living still lords even in their hide-out!

Even as India is fanning its wings to recoup from the economic crisis, IPL is opening up flood gate at regular interval! Such a ruthlessness in our sports arena should not be permitted as IPL is nothing but a massive thamasha with no national importance attached to it. Just another form of sponsored spend-spree craze!

Why do you have to bring in regionalism in every post.

It is not a hidden fact that cricket administration in India is BIG BIG money.

So, big are the stakes that even a Sharad Pawar had showna desire to quit national politics to be a full time administrator.

With such loads of money being involved, corruption is rampant, and hence all big fishes would obviously want their share of the pie.

IPL means Indians Power League which is controlled by a powerful people with political support come together for a common cause of promoting themselves, increasing their power, influence and personal wealth at the cost of real interest of Indian cricket and the cricketers. Why not past cricketers but only few people like Srinivasan,Dalmiya, Pawar, Rajiv Shukla who has never played cricket are incharge of IPL ?
