Test cricket does not pay handsomely. A weak batsman cannot make any records.

He does not have any family commitment as he is younger to his wife. Basically he is not head of the family and can continue to play as our wives do at our cost. They have no botheration for running the family. Clever boy indeed.

Prakash, who told you that sachin's wife anjali married him for money, she is the daughter of Dr Mehta, the owner of Lilavati hospital,Mumbai, one of the most famous hospitals of the country.when she married sachin,in 1995, there was not much money in cricket.Infact,it is the other way around sachin married a rich doctor girl for her & her father's money.

Sachin's retirement
by Jugal Ahuja on Sep 04, 2013 03:01 PM  | Hide replies

Since Sachin is a Rajya Sabha member, and his term is for 6 years i.e upto 2019, the current PM should immediately make him a MOS in his cabinet and allott him the Sports portfolio. This will force him to retire, and make the disgruntled cricket enthusiats fed up with Sachin's prolonged cricket career, will receive a relief. I think this is the best solution,Sachin can offer the excuse that duty towards the nation has forced him to retire.

Criticizers as always have been generous in cursing him all these years that even when they speak sense today, it holds no water..... In short, criticism has gone so overboard and personal that nobody will care for it.

by pratap bhanu on Sep 04, 2013 02:45 PM

He has great business sense like maria, while playing endorsing lot of things and running parallel business.Normal retirement age in govt/corporate sector is 58-60 years.
And in sports-its depends on many factors but generally max is 40 years. He has already 40 ,now he can play for as 43 and in balance 17-18 years,he will charge huge money in giving TV interviews.paid Lectures in academies, ceremonies etc.

Sachin's decision
by Jomesh George on Sep 04, 2013 02:43 PM  | Hide replies

I have mixed feelings for Sachin. He kept away from T20I saying it is for youngsters he was 100% right even though missed 4 WT20s during his time. But he was wrong in continuing in ODIs after the WC2011 win.But there is nothing wrong if he continues in tests to complete 25 years .Test cricket doesn't require fast running or muscle power or atheletism like limited overs.Solidity, technique and temperament are more important.More than that presence of players like Sachin Kallis or Clarke is required for a fading format like test cricket.

They are also using him for publicity. Sometimes I pity his condition. People calling for his head, people falling to his feet, people making a living out of criticizing/praising him. First on this list was Kapil, next Sachin, next Dhoni. I pity Sachin & Dhoni more.......

He seems to be OK with that. Besides, I dont think that playing tests will fetch him so much money to term him greedy.

If money was a concern, he would have clung to T20 and ODIs. And popularity, well his presence in the Ranji matches proved it..... Main problem is, he is not accepting that his reflexes have slowed down. Somebody needs to knock sense to him.
